Outdoor weddings...who has a backup plan for rain???

I am having an outdoor ceremony, and literally no back up plan as suggested. I am just going to be praying for no rain! Who else has no back up plan? Just wondering...please don't try to worry me with the " you really should have a back-up plan, what if..." I have faith that god will hold off for...

My wedding and reception will both be outside. The venue suggests reserving a tent in case of rain. A tent to accommodate the number of people we have will be over $1000. There is a 30% non-refundable deposit.... I'm going to wait until the week of the wedding and see what the weatherman says, then I'll decide about a tent. I'm definitely not reserving months in advance. Prayers & Faith!!!

Ours is an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception that's tented at the same site- absolute worst-case scenario we can do the ceremony in the tent, but i REALLY don't want that to happen.

If it comes down to it and there might be rain, I think it would be cute to buy those $.99 ponchos for each guest (we're having about 120, so it's not too expensive), and putting them on each chair at the ceremony. Umbrellas are kind of expensive, so I feel like that's a nice happy medium that keeps things outside and keep people dry! Plus if you don't use them, I imagine they can be returned without a problem.

I got married outside and no back up plan if it rained. If it had rained, I guess we would have had a super fun wedding in the rain!

We have rented a large log 4 bedroom log home where we're staying for the week. we're having a small casual wedding, so the reception is going to be a the house, dancing on the covered porch, etc. We've decided if it rains, we'll just get married at the house too. That was the best I could come with for a back up plan. =)

I am having an ourdoor ceremony and inside reception. I am thinking of my ceremony every day. Anyways, its going to be under a huge gazebo and we plan to put all of our guest under the gazebo. So if its just a few shower we will stay there. If its pouring rain then we will move the ceremony inside the hall.

We kind of have a back up plan, but kind of don't. We were considering putting a deposit on a tent just in case of rain and were told by the company that all we would have to pay is the deposit ($150) if we did not need it. A couple of months later FH was double checking on that in order to book it for the day and they then said at best we would owe 3/4 of the tent rental which was over $500. So as of now we have no back up plan. We are waiting till we can see the weather forecast for the day (hopefully having a rough idea 2 weeks in advance) and make the call then. Sadly our venue does not have an indoor ceremony site in case of rain.

We are having an outdoor ceremony and the reception in a tent outside. Our semi-backup plan is that we will have a secondary smaller tent just to cover the small area for the ceremony. But you do know rain is considered good luck in many cultures right? So, even if it does rain that day, who cares? Enjoy the day regardless.

The venue we want to use is "outdoors' but still has the indoor feel, it's like a patio made of brick, has roof and archways? But I'm more worried about snow, but I'm finally getting the "I'm the bride" Attitude, I told FH if they are worried about being cold they can wear a jacket and we'll rent heaters, Lol.

but the venue isn't 100% set in stone, but I do want an outdoor ceremony..I thought about getting tents worse comes to worse (My dad has a family friend that we could borrow tents off)

OMG I will be praying for all of you with no back up plans....FH and I picked a park with an old colonial house on the premises that allows for 125 people. If we get rain we'll move the ceremony to the fireplace room where you intend on doing our dancing for the evening.

I don't have a back up plan either, and our ceremony will be in a garden and our reception will be in a library courtyard(outside) but we live in Vegas so it hardly ever rains here. So prayers will be sent up until the day haha.

We had a back up plan, to have the ceremony at the reception site, but didn't need it. The weather was perfect and there was even a 20-30 percent chance of rain!

For peace of mind my fiance and I had a backup plan arranged and even if we hadn't, the venue created one by default.

I'm being hopeful and saying we won't need it, but if we do, we at least have a location for backup. Smiley laugh

I kind have a back up plan I am getting married at my great grandmothers home I researched it and it looks like in the last 4 or 5 year there has only been 1.5-2 inches of rain in the whole month of sept if it rains and doesn't look like it will be letting up we will move it into the living room or basement then take the party to a park with a covered picnic area or just hang out in the house. We have our family reunions there of about 50 people or so I think the house can hold enough for my small wedding

We are getting married saturday on the beach in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. we have no back up plan and there was a 60% chance of rain on the 10 day forcast and now I have the oil to worry about too. I also have faith that it will work out. The percent for chance of rain has already dropped to 30% within the last couple days. If the oil does start washing up on shore they may let me move the wedding to the courtyard of the hotel where the reception will be. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

We're planning to have our wedding outside with our reception right on the same property. It's a carriage house that will probably be big enough to have the wedding inside, but it's definitely not the vision we want. We haven't really decided how that will work if we need to go inside for the wedding, though we do have that space all day. Right now, we're praying for no rain that day. But, like others have said, it's a pretty good possibility for afternoon rain/thunderstorms in this part of the country in May. It's just one of those things we'll have to deal with when the time comes. Honestly, I'd be cool carrying an umbrella and gettign married outside with the rain pouring down. I have a vision for our wedding that I'd like to have, but the only thing that is really critical is the "I do" part. Smiley smile
