Outdoor weddings...who has a backup plan for rain???

futureafu, on June 4, 2010 at 2:17 PM

I am having an outdoor ceremony, and literally no back up plan as suggested. I am just going to be praying for no rain! Who else has no back up plan? Just wondering...please don't try to worry me with the " you really should have a back-up plan, what if..." I have faith that god will hold off for...

So funny to put up a post and say no negative comments - especially about a topic that has a completely 'negative' side! AB was only being honest AND realistic. While I wish you luck and hope your faith gets you through - I personally do not think it is a wise idea to have an outside wedding without a backup plan.

You all can slam me too for not obeying your rules about not sharing an opposing opinion but everyone is entitled to their say whether it is something you want to hear or not.

On the bachelor wedding with Molly and Jason, they did not have a back up plan and just got married in the rain. I thought it was very sweet and they didn't care. I think you will be okay. Plus if it does rain...it's good luck! Smiley smile

I'm with you Futureafu...My ceremony is outside and I have no back up plan in place..persay. The reception is indoors and technically we *could* move the ceremony inside, if need be, but it would mean tearing the reception down completely and having no where for guests to be while it was set back up...not so much. I'm praying for no rain for that particular 30mins as well! Smiley smile

Sorry, that was uncalled for. I just am sorry that futureafu is so willing to blithely assume that the weather will be perfect for her wedding. After putting so much time, effort and money into it, gambling that you will have good weather is a big gamble. As I mentioned, the bridezilla episode was SAD. I hated seeing that happen to that unpleasant bridezilla, I would hate to see that happen to futureafu or any of you who are saying that it just won't happen to you.

A.B. I think you have been spending way too much time on the Knot. That is the only wedding planning site where I have ever seen people try to hurt people like you are obviously trying to here.

No one is slamming anyone for having an opposing opinion. But it's not cool to call a fellow WW bride an idiot, just be respectful. I don't have a back-up plan either, there's nothing wrong with it.

In my perfect world, our day will be absolutely beautiful...mid 70's, sunny, and low humidity. I do have a backup plan just in case. We will move the ceremony under the pavilion if it rains.

I am having mine outside as well with no back up plan. In Kentucky the saying is "If you don't like the weather wait 30 min and it will change" so if it rains, I am sure it won't last long and if it does then we will figure something out. The reception will be inside so we could always just switch it up.

Thanks, all you ladies helped prove my point about how here @ WW we are supportive of our fellow brides. I am going to choose to take no offense...anyways, as I said in one of my previous comments, if I WANTED TO i could move everything to the reception hall...It's not happening though, I am with Meghan, if it rains we will just continue on and thank the lord that the ceremony is only 30 minutes of what will STILL be the most joyous day Smiley smile

My venue comes with a backup plan but I don't wanna use it. I will if it's extreme cold (I'm talking less than 38) or a very rainy day but other than that I'm having my ceremony outside! :-) It's only going to be about 15 minutes then everyone can go inside. I sound kinda bridezilla-ish, don't I?

And I too saw part of the episode but they had tornado warning (unless this was another one) with really bad storms and she still refused to move it inside.

I dont watch bridezilla usually so I havent seen this infamous episode but I mean come on, if they are calling for major storms I'll move it..if not, and they are expecting maybe a passing shower...why would I? Anyone that lives where I do would completely understand

I'm sorry if it seems like I was accusing you of being like that bride. I am not. I'm agreeing with you.

I had an outdoor ceremony and reception with no back up plan! Well, my backup plan was to bring your unbrella! lol. My day turned out beautiful and I live in TN with my wedding a week after all the floods that happened here! Just keep the faith and pray! Your day will be great no matter what!
