interesting ways to display seating chart?

Snif, on January 3, 2011 at 2:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

We are having assigned tables but not assigned seats. It dawned on me after I went to a wedding this last weekend that we still have to have something set up so they can find their name to know what table they're at.

Does anyone have some creative (cheap, cheap, cheap) suggestions on how to do this?

Have you thought of making a scroll chart that has everything on it.... you can pick the theme of the border to match the feel of your wedding and instead of table numbers you can use words.

You can design in in Microsoft Word.... then go to kinkos and have them print it out on a BIG piece of paper and use a glue stick to connect it to foam board.... whole cost less than $5!!!!!!! example on a black foam board from my wedding....

Hayley - rock on! The venue has an easel that typically couples put their engagement photo on but we weren't going to do that so it's a perfect place.

Nik - My theme is everyone get drunk and have fun Smiley winking

I made a table chart, it's a poster board, and I decorated it with blue ribbon to tie it into the wedding colors, I only have the head table done since I don't have all the RSVPs yet but I will be putting them over the blue paper, so you can just see a bit of the blue on the sides of the names. I spent about $3 I already had the ribbon

Fins, how many on your guest list? If it's large maybe you can divide the guest list in half alphabetically and have two boards (A-M; N-Z)..I've always wondered about the logistics with charts like if you have a bunch of people crowding around..but then again I' ve never used one; I guess people filter in gradually so it wouldn't be a prob, maybe others who used it can chime in on their experience? :-)

I have seen a few images online that were pretty clever. One vintage style wedding used a variety of antique frames 8x10 sizes and neatly placed each section of the list in the frames to hang on the entrance doors to the event. Very classy and beautiful. Another one I saw was a large blackboard where they had someone with elegant manuscript write it out in a list format. I also like the rustic look of just tacking up the cards on the fence for outdoor weddings. Consider the style of your event and how you want to present it. It can be one long list or broken into several smaller pieces to make up a visual collection.

I printed out the table assignments on pretty paper and then we framed them and had them set out on a table at the venue. This isn't a very big picture but this is what they looked like...

@ goskell, yes I believe they were magnolia blossoms. The venue actually did all the work! I just gave them the printed table assignments and they placed the frames on a table and decorated it with the candles and flowers!

I copied this idea from an internet site that I found but I'm sure they are easier ways of displaying people's name/table numbers. I believe I paid about $40 online for all the corks and I had so many left over, the ribbon I bought on sale at Hobby Lobby when they had them 50% off and the paper for the names I believe I bought on www.cutcardstock.com. These are escort cards so people were not assigned seats but these directed them to their tables.

Well we are using wine bottles with willow braches sticking out of them and jewels hanging from the branches as center pieces. So for the table chart I took a cork board and glued the wine corks all over it and made mini wine bottles out of glitter card stock, then attached white lables to them with the table number and names. Only assigned tables not seats.
