How much should invitations and Save-the-dates cost?? - What did you spend?

TeamFord, on September 16, 2013 at 3:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 43

Ladies please help! What did you spend on invitations and std's?? We budgeted $200 for wedding and $150 for save the dates. This doesn't include postage. I budgeted slightly higher than the internet website average for invitations because I have a particular style in mind that I think may be a little more pricy. But we honestly have no idea what the average cost of invitations and std's are? Are the websites averages accurate?

Not sure what the average price is but I spent $100 on save the dates and that didn't include postage because I handed them out (they were chocolate masquerade masks with the post card ) and the invites were $240 the were scrollinvitations with a design box it came in i ordered 50 of those and of the std s I also handed those out it was $6 to send 2 so I thought that was a lil pricey

In hindsight, we way overpaid for ours. We ordered through WPD and even though we had a coupon code for both (we ordered STD and invites at separate times), we still spent more than we could have elsewhere. We just didn't shop around enough!

I can't remember a specific price, but I want to say we ended up paying close to $500 for both (not including postage)

We spent under 50 on STDs, but I had a groupon for VistaPrint and bought a bunch of stuff- including postcards that we used for STDs.

We spent about $290 on invitations/RSVP cards, but they had ribbons and lined inner envelopes, and I had my return address printed on them.

I went with VP & I used a $17.00 groupon for $70 worth of merchandise. I got 75 engagement pic STDs magnets with upgraded envelopes, return address stamp, a canvas bag with our e-pic, 50 postcards with the standard envelopes, 2 keychains w/pics, 100 invitations with e-pics. I haven't mailed out the invites yet. In a nutshell including taxes & shipping total charge was $85, after coupon I paid an additional $15.00 (plus $17 cost for groupon), final out of pocket cost was $32

Thanks for sharing ladies! @Andrea, that's almost exactly what we want to do, send ours in a box, so we would like to keep the price down since the postage will be expensive. @Andrea, how many total guest are you expecting at your wedding?

It also depends on how many invites and STDs you are ordering. We're spending $500 without stamps for wedding invites and I'm looking at around $200ish for STD for about 200 invitations.

I didn't do save the dates. My invitations were $250 - pocket style from exclusively weddings. I think I ordered 100 invites (we invited 155 people).

I haven't ordered mine yet, but from what I've talked to my photographer about, she's going to do them for us, it's going to be around 250 for 125 invitations. We're having 200 people so I think 125 invitations is enough. I haven't figured the exact number yet.

I got my save the date postcards on VP-- 100 for $10. It ended up being $18 when they added in shipping. Haven't ordered invitations yet but with the money saved on STDs, I can budget more for invitations.

I spent $90 for 100 STDs and will be spending about $170 for 125 invitations. This includes shipping costs.

I forgot to mention, myself and a friend both did email RSVPs. Pingg has some good photo options, I just used a Wedding Chicks image embedded in an email. Free ninety nine!

A friend did my STDs, thank you cards and invitations herself so what I paid is irrelevant because of the massive discount, however when looking around for fun I found some for $1-$3 each on Etsy, you might want to browse there and see if there is anything you like!

I spent $44 on my STD's from VP. No groupon or anything. Invitations were $328 from WPD, with a coupon code. I got the invites, response cards, and an enclosure for directions. We got 85 invites.

Unfortunately, there's no correct answer to how much the "should" be. There are limitless factors to consider. $200 can be enough for some invites, but if you want to add things such as letter press the price can go up drastically. I'm sure you can get beautiful invitations for $200, but no one will be able to give you a good answer on how much you 'should' spend.
