How long to wait for engagement pictures back from the photog?

Michy, on October 24, 2014 at 1:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

So we had our engagement session Sept 27th, almost exactly 4 weeks ago. We haven't got any photos back from it yet. I'm just wondering what's the average time that should take? Would it be rude of me to email the photog and ask approximately how much longer they will be?

It took about 4-5 weeks for mine and I thought it was long only because he kept promising they will be sent out and then prolong to the following week. I would email and just follow up and ask, it wouldn't be rude.

I don't think an email would be rude..prior to taking the pics what was the time frame given? We take our photos next week and our photographer told us a 10 day turnaround for pics.

Go ahead and email. Their wedding season is probably dwindling down so they should be working on your pics now. I've heard that pics during the summer aka wedding season can take forever, but she shouldn't be nearly as busy now.

Our photog said 3-4 weeks for proofs.

We took our pictures almost 3 weeks ago. My photographer told me it would take a few weeks. So we should expect them sometime the second week of November.

About 2 weeks for us. I was annoyed though because she kept saying "today" and it would never be that day. I would send an email and ask for an update if it's past the day you were promised.

Definitely email. They should have told you that day how long it would take. Ours has been very open from day 1. We got a dozen or so preview pictures that same day and then the rest will be around 3 weeks. She said they are normally 2, but because it's busy season, it may take 3.

    Ask!

The day we had them taken, we were told 5 weeks. We received them 5 weeks to the day.

It's been long enough to send her an email if she didn't give you a timeframe.

We had our sneak peek the following morning and all photos a week later but they were taken at the beginning of April so they weren't busy with weddings or anything big like that.

Check the contract? Does it say anything there?

Depends on the photographer. September and October is busy season for them, so maybe 6 weeks?

We got ONE sneak peek about two weeks after (did them the last week of June) and got a disc with them all the first week of August

I don't think it would hurt to reach out and check in with your photographer. When we had ours done they told us 3-4 weeks, but got them back in one.

We had our sneak peeks about two weeks after our session, and our actual photos maybe 6-8 weeks after our session. Keep in mind wedding season is still going strong here (I live across the river from you) so that might be the hold up. Smiley smile

So, I shouldn't be worried that I haven't seen anything and its been about 3 weeks?

Ours didn't tell us how long it would be (we had them done Oct. 11th). I'm friends with her though and know her turn around time is normally 4-6 weeks (although it's actually sooner). She takes hundreds of pictures even for e-pics and does a 10 min slide show for the wedding photos... I think a lot of the wait time is dependent on how many pictures you're getting too. I thought we would be getting a sneak peak, but haven't received anything yet so I just texted her and asked how our pictures were looking and she told me they'd be ready next week. I think it's worth just a quick note so you can relax about it, but no need to be concerned at this point.

I took mine on October 12 got them October 25. Those were all the photos. No sneak peak. She mailed me a disc with the photos and a photo release form just in case we need them for printing.
