How long to wait for engagement pictures back from the photog?

So we had our engagement session Sept 27th, almost exactly 4 weeks ago. We haven't got any photos back from it yet. I'm just wondering what's the average time that should take? Would it be rude of me to email the photog and ask approximately how much longer they will be?

She had a "sneak peak" for us that afternoon and even though she told us it would take a week, she had the blog posted 2 days later (mid morning) and the entire gallery ready for us by that evening!!

What does your contact say? It depends on the photographer, how busy they are, and how much editing they do. Our photographer told us 1 week for a few sneak peek photos, and 8 weeks for all of the engagement photos. The wedding photos were 10-12 weeks, although he delivered them early. It was a big part of his contract that he went over a few times with us. Check the contract, if it isn't in there and if the photog. hasn't given you are guidance on timelines, it's fair to ask.
