God's Knot - Cord of Three Strands
Is doing this and Jumping the Broom too much?

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. The cord of three strands symbolizes the joining of one man, one woman, and God into a marriage relationship. Marriage takes three; you, your soon to be spouse, and God. It was God who taught us to love. By keeping Him at the center of your marriage, His love will continue to bind you together as one throughout your marriage.

They are two totally different ritual elements; you could do both, but keep the readings short for each.

I don't think it is too much at all. We are doing a sand ceremony with the children and a Love Letter/ Wine Box ceremony.

Jumping the Broom is tradition and doesnt warrant much time at all. That is at the end of your ceremony anyway. So saying a short prayer would work just perfectly. I went to a coworker's wedding and they were Catholic and they did something similar. I love the idea. I might have to take this idea for myself. This is such a wonderful idea Toni-Marie. I say go for it! Where would I find this 3-strand cord? I guess I can google it right? HeHeHe!

SO MUCH Cheaper to go to Bed bath and Beyond with 3 - 20% off coupons and buy the curtain tie backs.
Then you just need to get a big ring (I'm sure you can find one at the hardware store)

I'm doing them both , they mean different things. The Cord of three strand has the same meaning as a unity candle or sand ceremony. And that's the only place you can buy them from , their is also a shadow box you can purchase to store it in after.

To put the strands in after the wedding . I didn't get the one online, I got mine from Hobby Lobby for 15.00. I also plan to put the meaning card in with it. Here is an example of it inside the box.

Bed Bath and Beyond

$3 per rope... compared to $40 kits on line!!!!! That is QUITE the profit!

Measures approximately 22" L -

silver...

and I'm sure they have other colors too. Then just find a ring.

Having the officiant hold the ring so you two can braid at the same time

The cord of three strands ceremony can also serve as a substitute for the unity candle. This is useful for situations where candles may not be used, or may be difficult, as a substitute in outside weddings.

The bride and groom braid the strands together, symbolizing the union of God, husband and wife.

Speaking for myself I didn't want to go cheap with something like this. Even though it's too late, I have already bought it . Then on top of that BBB don't have the purple color.
