Destination Wedding: Do I send an email reminder to guests who haven't booked their rooms?

Melissa, on April 25, 2013 at 5:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

I am getting married in Jamaica in August and the resort I booked needs a 50% deposit of the rooms I blocked by a certain time. Only half of my required room block is booked. I would prefer to not have to put up the money myself until guests book their rooms. Do I send guests a reminder email? Or is this tacky?

Help!

I think yes send the email!! How many more rooms do you need booked? I know if it were my family lagging I would not be shy about calling them up and saying "dude are you coming or not?!" But FH I would NOT do that- haha. Maybe you can handle your side and he his?

I need 8 more rooms to complete my block. I sent out my save the dates a year and a half in advance (with hotel info on it) and invitations in February. I want to send the reminder to both family and friends, just don't know how to start the email without sounding annoying and not letting them know that I need it.

Are these rooms for people you are sure are coming? I would send a friendly reminder, but if someone doesn't make the reservation after that, I would be leery to front the money.

The rooms are not for people who are coming for sure, it was the required block for me to secure the location. I do want to send a reminder, just don't know how to start...

    Greetings Friends and Family,

Hope this email finds you well. I just wanted to send a friendly reminder in regards to our upcoming wedding in August. You should have all received an invite in the mail by now; if not, let me know! Wouldn't want you to miss put because the post office lost your invite!

We are quickly approaching the deadline to reserve rooms, so if you're planning on joining us for our special day, you would need to call the hotel and book your stay. (Add hotel phone info right here so they can call from wherever they are sitting when they read your email) We understand this is a huge financial commitment, and are so grateful for your love and support throughout the years, and we hope you'll be there to celebrate with us. However, we completely understand if you are unable to attend.

Don't hesitate to call/email if you have any questions. I'm happy to help!

Our hotels rate changed to normal rate yesterday so I sent an email reminder last week and that helped. I also told everyone the hotel is almost full because of other events that weekend.
