Anyone else have weirdly-shaped fingers? And an e-ring that spins?

Mrs. Lav, on January 29, 2015 at 9:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I get really annoyed that I have big knuckles and relatively small fingers (5.5 ring size, and I'm slightly overweight). My e-ring spins around a lot. I'm not too upset since I fidget a lot, but it's still an issue (enough that people notice my ring is too big when I show it to them).

I've heard that people need a slightly bigger wedding band/e-ring resize when they have both because of the way they sit on the finger. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

Mine isn't my finger, but the shape of my ring. Its almost square at the top and doesn't fit on my finger correctly. I've already had it sized down twice and will need it done again before the wedding.

If you have a large stone in your e-ring that coild also be part of the problem as it makes it very top heavy.

I can't remember what theyre called, but you can get these strips of metal to put on the bottom of your ring and it will resize it without changing the ring size if that makes any sense. I had them and they worked, but i bent it wrong and screwed it up.

I have baby fingers (size 5!). I have both rings in a 5. They spin a little, but nothing too bad. They are also small and thin, so not heavy at.

Mine's 0.69 carat, so not too big, but perfect for me. Smiley smile I'm a little annoyed because I need a 5.5 to fit over my knuckle, but I think my finger's close to a 4.5. @Melanie, I'll have to see if anyone can tell me what the strip of metal is called. That would definitely help me!

My ring finger is approx. a size 4 - maybe as small as a 3.75. I am going to have a jeweler put sizing beads inside the band (and inside my wedding band too) AFTER the wedding. I have a size 4 plain gold band I wear in front of my engagement ring to keep it from falling off since it is winter. I am waiting until after the wedding to get my fingers used to wearing both rings before I know how small they need to be.

You think size 5 is little. I'm a size FOUR! lol Very limited options when buying rings. Not a lot of rings can be made that tiny. My ring (diamond wise) isn't big at all and still spins around sometimes.

Haha @GrayCatVintage and @Amber-- I'm not a small person, so my fingers are small comparatively!

Sizing beads? I might look into that. I've been wearing this ring since Nov of 2013, so I'll probably just suck it up until the wedding.

The only time my E ring hasn't spun was when I was pregnant and eventually had to take it off. I've been +40lbs since I got it and back down and it's always spun. I think most will spin unless they're right tight, mine are a bit snug right now and still spin!

Yes. I have the worst looking fingers! Uggghh! My ring had to be sized down to a 4.75. I could probably wear a 4.5 but I wouldn't be able to get it over my knuckle. I will get a size 5 wedding band though.

Found the link to where I bought mine from!

If you buy just remember to be careful when putting it on your ring. I used over-sized pliers and ended up bending it wrong.

When my FH gave it to me, it was a 6.25. It spun around A LOT. So I got it resized to a 6. It will still spin but not nearly as much and not all the way around and i have wiggle it to get it off my finger. I didn't want to get it sized smaller because it is winter and in the summer, your fingers will swell. I will get the same size wedding ring. Get the sizing bands! I heard that they work great!

My e-ring spins ALL the time. size 4.5 but any smaller and it would not go over my knuckle. I can't wait to get my wedding band, its a 3 sided diamond eternity band. I don't see myself wearing my e-ring except for special occasions after i get my band :-)

Depending on where you live...keep in mind it's winter and your fingers are way smaller than they are in the summer. I've had so many customers come in this week saying they think their ring is too big but in reality it's just because their fingers are currently so small cuz of the weather.

If that's not the case and it really is just an issue with spinning...this is an issue most people have, you don't have weird fingers by any means. It's actually more uncommon for someone's knuckle to be smaller than the base of the finger. You can have stabilizing beads added to the inside of your ring, that should help. Typically though, if your ring fits you well and you get a band with it, it won't spin as much.

Also, typically you won't need to resize your ring unless you're getting a realllllly thick ring. For instance, I have my engagement ring and one wedding band a 5 and the other wedding band is a 5.5 because once I have all 3 rings together it's about an inch thick...so they would be uncomfortable if they were all the same size. If I only have one wedding ring this wouldn't be an issue at all.

My jeweler suggested the guard wedding bands the ones that go on both sides of the ring and are saughtered( can't spell). It helps to keep the ring in place and tight

Yup, i had the same problem, my knuckles are big, and my e-ring was spinning all the time, BUT, now that I have both rings on they don't spin AT ALL. It does make a big difference to have two.

In fact, I actually wish that they were bigger because when I wake up in the morning and my hands

are swollen, two rings makes it pretty tight, and I feel like it's choking off my finger!

Thanks all. I definitely want to get some kind of spacer-- I've had the ring since November 2013 so I've been through all of the seasons. It's sometimes bad enough (especially in winter) that it spins while I type at work.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem, though!

My mom had this problem and got the sizing beads put on the ring. i think it fixed the issue for her. i may have to do the same thing since i lost some weight the size of my blue topaz is making the ring spin but is still fairly tight around my knuckle

I would wear a size 2.5 buy my knuckle constricts that so I wear a size 3. Talk about weirdly small lol! I just got used to replacing it with my middle finger, it's a habit

My e-ring is 7 marquise shaped stones & top heavy & most days I am so scared to lose it (haven't been able to find a good sizer) I put it on my right hand b/c it fits perfectly there. I have tired the plastics ones but I hadn't seen any metals ones until today. I will have to look into those.

I wear a ring sizer on mine still. I had it resized once and the jeweler wanted it to be a 4.5 but I thought it would be too tight during the summer. So, it's now a 5 and I still wear a sizer. I didn't know about the band part though. We're going to get my wedding band made, so I'll have to ask about that.
