Sara does fantastic work, she definitely knows what she's doing. For our engagement pictures, it took less than an hour and I thought it was a little short on time but when we got the pics back, I had no reason to doubt her. We got a lot of great pics and she's also very good at directing how to pose (very helpful for a husband who doesn't know what he's doing! haha) We haven't gotten our wedding pics back but I am so so excited to get them! She was wonderful, especially if you love the photojournalistic approach. She's a little pricey but if you care about the quality of your pictures, the cost doesn't matter - she was worth it!

When I met Sara for a consultation, she seemed nice and sincere. We booked her for our wedding about 11 months before. Our package we worked out included 6 hours of wedding day coverage, a high resolution cd of images, an engagement session, and a flipbook.
We did our engagement session. She did not make my fiance or I feel at ease during the session. It was very awkward working with her.
A few months later, I learned she was pregnant, and going to be 8+ months pregnant for my wedding. If you're a wedding photographer, why would you plan on having a baby in the middle of your "peak" season?
So we got to the wedding day. She showed up on time, and was fairly professional. Despite the fact that I told her I did not want "getting ready" pictures, she insisted she show up early to get some of that. I told her I wanted 45 minutes between pictures and the ceremony. I had to tell her to stop, so that I could go back before the ceremony (as I'm sweating like a pig in the 90 degree weather, and don't want to walk down the aisle looking like that). She kept posing us very awkwardly, and I think we were all uncomfortable in front of her.
After the ceremony, she took one shot of each "traditional family" type pose. It was unfortunate that she took so few because as it turned out the shot with me and my mother was lost. That wouldn't be a big deal if it were not for the next part...
She lost our reception pictures. No, not kidding. Lost ALL of our reception pictures. She told me, "there were a couple of them in there". Yes, I have two pictures of shrimp on a plate. No pictures of dinner, no pictures of toasts, cake cutting, father daughter dance, first dance. None of it. I don't have a single picture of me with my mom on my wedding day.
How'd Sara Tafoya handle this, you might ask? She called me to inform me that due to "technical error", they were lost. She offered me either "$400 cash back
or an upgrade album to the Asuka Coffee Table 10x10 Album ($650 dollar value)
16x20 Art Canvas ($159 dollar value)". Let's talk about the acutal value of the album and canvas...I think it comes out to about $400. I paid her a total of 1700, so she was trying to give me a ~25% refund for loosing all of the pictures from my wedding reception. That's 3 hours of pictures. I didn't much appreciate her offer, and told her I thought it wasn't fair. In response she screamed at me over the phone and told me that my guests had gotten pictures, and I should just be happy about that. It was an all out yell fight on the phone. She was so out of control, her husband had to grab the phone from her. Oh and that "technical error", that was human error. It took quite a bit of badgering to get that out of her. I finally talked her into an $800 refund, but that came with a lot of attitude.
In short, don't book her. She's unreliable, uncooperative, and a little crazy.
The pictures we did get, are pretty mediocre, and lack any real editing. A colored filter doesn't really fix everything does it?

Sara was my wedding photographer and has photographed 3 of my friends weddings! She is so much fun! I felt like a super model and a rock star on my wedding day and she captured EVERYTHING about our day!... from details, candid moments, traditional family poses, modern FASHION MAGAZINE WORTHY stuff of me and my husband! The place where we got married wasn't super fancy and we stayed on location there for photos. I was so amazed how Sara made it look like we were just in some magical wonderland!
