About
My name is Taka Yanagimoto and I am the principle photographer in Yanagimoto Photography LLC. I specialize in both wedding and portrait photography. My style can best be described as "whatever you want captured that day" kind of style. I prefer not to throw out the word "photojournalism" because I am not a photojournalist by training. If you are looking for someone who likes to let things happen as much as possible but still works with traditional shots/poses then I could be a good fit. My packages start at $2800 and all come with an engagement session!

Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
all shots are post processed for color correction, white balance, contrast as well as other imaging processes that allow me to produce the finest quality of image. Most images are available in color and black & white

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have experience with all lighting situations. I bring my own off camera lighting equipment to assist with portraits and reception shots.

Is your media preference film or digital?
I shoot entirely digital.

How many photographers do you work with?
I typically shoot alone but have access to second shooters/assistants should the client request it.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
I am always the primary photographer!

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Never!

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes! I work with other trusted and well respected photographers in the area who can provide backup in the case of emergency. And by emergency I mean that I am in the hospital!

I bring my cameras/tripods/memory cards/batteries/flashes/lightstands/off camera lighting gear/mouthwash/hand sanitizer!

Always!

I typically shoot all day but can customize any package to hourly if need be.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I break long enough to change memory cards, lenses, batteries. So basically when I say I shoot all day, I shoot all day with minimal interruption.

Do you charge for travel?
Within 50 miles of St. Louis I do not charge for milage. Outside of that I will charge for milage at the current fed milage reimbursement rate.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Depending on when the wedding takes place (time of year) will often dictate how busy I am. After a wedding takes place I try to get the full edited versions up on my site within a week.

All images are displayed on my site in a password protected gallery.

Tips and Advice
Selecting a wedding photographer is like trying to decide what type of car you should buy. There are many different kinds, many styles and many claim to do certain things that are different from the others. The trick is not finding the lemon. It's too big of a day to have things go wrong or not get the images you were hoping for. You can shop for price or you can shop for quality. Wedding images should last a lifetime and so deciding who will capture those moments should be done with great care and due diligence. I am certainly not the cheapest or the most expensive but I know that I have been able to connect with my clients and earn their trust so that they feel comfortable with me on their wedding day to document everything I see.
