I love the original and fresh take that Ultimate Images has for their wedding pictures. Photography is an art form that takes a very special artist and Ultimate Images has artists.

Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Digital image editing is a fine art that we are excited to provide for you. Transitioning your images to special effects, colors, tones and styles is always available upon request.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Photographing weddings for 25+ years has placed us in all varieties of lighting experiences, from photographing a cave wedding, full sunlight, candlelight and all kinds of artificial lighting. The hardest lighting to work with is actually an outdoor wedding on a fully sunlit day at noon. Shadows, squinting, harsh light and glare is a challenge, but we can work around these obstacles to provide you with amazing images of your day.

Is your media preference film or digital?
20 years of film, followed with digital photography, I have to say digital is the only way to go. When the digital industry advancements caught up with the qualities of film, we jumped ship and will never look back. Digital imagery ROCKS!!!

How many photographers do you work with?
We are a husband/wife team that almost always work together, but occasionally one of us needs to be absent for one reason or another. If the shoot cannot be fully completed with only one photographer, we belong to a network of Professional Photographers, and utilize each other to completely fulfill your needs.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes we do. The contract you sign, protects us and you both. Upon signature of the contract, your day becomes "etched in stone" on our calendar, and nothing else can preoccupy the day.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
We have booked a small and simple Saturday wedding and another small and simple Sunday wedding where time was very limited and the events were not elaborate or extravogant. Otherwise, we only book a single wedding on a given weekend. We NEVER book more than one wedding on a single given day.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes we do. Being in a network of professional wedding photographers, we are able to guarantee your wedding photographs in the event of being unavailable for any reason. Knowing the work, professionalism, styles and ethics of the other photographers, we are able to confidently select a replacement photographer(s) for your day if the need arrises.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
High quality digital cameras and lenses, lighting reflectors and shades, and our ever present "emergency kit" for those unexpected moments.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes we do. We take no chances on missing your important day for any reason.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
Our packages are for whichever type of event (wedding only, wedding/reception, etc), and are inclusive of the event, NOT by the hour.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Truthfully? We rarely take a break. The action is ever-present, so breaks are not an option. At lulls in the actions occur, we may rest for a bit, but once things start happening again, its "off to the races" for us.

Do you charge for travel?
Outside the greater St Louis area, we do charge for mileage. Weddings requiring flight tickets, cruise tickets or other charges for commercial travel are assessed on an individual basis.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
2 to 4 weeks

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
4 X 6 proofs, on-line viewing/ordering, CD/DVD of high-resolution images, press printed proof books

How long can the client keep the proofs?
Forever. The proofs of your event are your lasting keepsake of your day.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, but we give you a written release to reproduce images from your wedding CD/DVD.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes we do, for advertising, photography contests or studio promotions. For any other use, we must first obtain permission from you.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Always. With whichever package you choose, you receive a high-resolution CV/DVD of the edited images from your event

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes they will. This gallery is password protected and available to anyone you chose to view it.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Traditional 4X6 (slip-in photograph) albums, flush mount albums, full-bleed albums, proof albums, parent albums and press printed albums.

When will the client get the final album?
In 2 to 10 weeks, depending on changes and/or revisions and style of album ordered

Tips and Advice

Investing in a photographer is much the same as investing in a home or in a new car.  Although the cost may be far less, your satisfaction and happiness with the end product will justify the time invested in finding the exact professional photographer to meet your needs, style and ultimate outcome desired.

When the day is done, your dress will probably go into secure and safe storage (unless you plan a "Trash the Dress" event, your foods and cake will have been eaten, guests will all have gone home, and your only lasting and showing memories are what was forever captured in your event photographs.  That alone makes your financial and time investment a critical piece of your wedding day.

Therefore, there are several important factors you need to assure yourself with in choosing your Professional Wedding Photographer.

Are you comfortable with the photographer?  If you feel comfortable and relaxed with the photographer, the results in your photographs will surely be apparent.  Trusting in their work, knowing their commitment to you, understanding that their goal is actually YOUR goal will provide you with a sense of total value of what they will accomplish for you.

Does the photographer offer samples of previous weddings?  If you see samples from 100, 200 or more weddings, but only a smattering of photos from each wedding, you should use caution.  At each wedding we photograph, we get several photographs that stand far above the rest.  Although almost every image we capture is special and unique, if we supply you with a sampling of only the “Truly Great” photos, your expectations are that every image captured will be as great as those shown to you.  We show you photographs of entire wedding events, so you will see the wide variety of styles used, images captured throughout the day, and the “great” as well as “truly great” photos you will receive from your day.

Will your photographer “Roll-with-the-Punches”?  At each event we shoot, there is almost always unexpected occurrences, changes in time-lines, unforeseen aspects or any other detail, which can delay or throw off established plans and times.  On other occasions, there may be no set schedule or set sequence of events to follow.  Will your photographer be flexible and knowledgeable enough to appraise each situation and be ready to change directions at a moments notice to ensure your needs are met?

Are there any hidden costs?  When you hire your photographer, you should be fully aware of the services and products offered, for the price you are paying.  Later discovering that there were hidden costs involved in what you were expecting, will only tarnish the experience of your mystical day.  Ask your photographer if there is additional costs for:  On-line posting of your event images; Taxes or surcharges involved; Prices for proofs, reprints, enlargements or albums; Additional costs for travel, additional shooting locations and additional photographers.

Does your photographer offer references?  If your photographer is a seasoned and professional photographer, they WILL have references to offer to you.  Rather than merely accept an extensive list of references as proof of satisfactory work, CALL their references.  Ask these references of the quality of the photographs or products received; the willingness of the photographer to work with them; the photographers professionalism; attire the photographer wore to the wedding; price versus product delivered; promptness of product delivery; wedding experience from the photographer; was the photographer a valued addition to their wedding; did the photographer capture the essence of the day (as well as their little nuances surrounding the day); and finally, and most important, if they had to do it all again, would they chose the same photographer.

Your wedding is a one-time experience and a one-time investment (emotionally and financially), so be 100% sure in the skills and abilities of the Professional Wedding Photographer you hire.  The treasured memories of your wedding do not only include your wedding photographs, but also the experiences and interactions you had with your photographer.

Protect those investments.  Shop around until you find the “perfect” match for you.
