In the heart of Maine's capital, you'll find one of the state's most beautiful homes. Governor John Freemont Hill (1855-1912) commissioned Maine's foremost architect, John Calvin Stevens, to design a grand Colonial Revival home. This stately building was used as the governor's home until his daughter and grandchildren gave it to the Oblate Fathers for a retreat home in 1949.
Since then, the Governor Hill Mansion has been used as a site for retreats, conferences, and gatherings of all kinds.
