About
Jacksonville's photographer Ron B. Wilson and his team's award winning fashion based documentary style of photography have been recognized by National Geographic, Modern Bride, The Knot, South Florida Wedding Magazine, Grace Ormond, and Elegant Weddings Magazine among others. Our primary goal is to tell your story with images and video bringing out the very best in every detail of your event. Headquartered in North Florida in the Jacksonville and St. Augustine areas, Ron B. Wilson and his associate photojournalists are available locally and worldwide for International Destination Weddings, advertising, and editorial assignments.

Ron began his career as a photographer very early in life and was always the kid with the camera. He knew he was going to be a photographer and never thought of doing anything else, and he brings that passion to your wedding or event. He studied photography at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. During his education at AIFL he was selected for an internship at The Miami Herald. The internship was an invaluable experience, which help mold him and his talents into the person he is today. He continued to freelance for The Miami Herald after the end of his internship and actually still gets assignments when he is in South Florida. He has photographed everything from celebrities, models, breaking news, and portraits to daily features that have been viewed by The Herald's 1.5 million weekly readership. He was granted a scholarship from Polaroid and upon graduation he was awarded The Best Portfolio in his graduating class. After graduating he headed off to Budapest, Hungary for another internship with Atlantic News Service. His assignments there ranged from local Hungarian news, to traveling with and covering Hilary Rodam-Clinton's visit to Eastern Europe to photographing the end of the Bosnian war in Sarajevo. This was the hardest yet most rewarding time in his life.

After he returned to United States he relocated to New York City where he worked in many different fields of photography such as fashion, commercial, architecture, and portraiture. He has covered every possible subject from the World Trade Center Tragedy to the blackout of 2003 and has been published in many publications such as The New York Times, Modern Bride, and The Knot. Ron is a two-time first prize winner in the wedding photography contest sponsored bi-annually by Philadelphia Magazine's Elegant Wedding, winning once in the "candid" category and once in the "kids" category. He recently won an award from National Geographic for his work from Cali, Colombia. The experiences of living and working as a professional photographer in New York have given him the advantage to be better and more well rounded in his life and career. Ron feels that the relationship he builds with the clients is what makes his work exceptional. He brings his warm, engaging personality and high standards to every assignment he does. He uses most of his free time to travel throughout the world from Europe, The Middle East and India to South America shooting stock photography. He uses his cameras to document the lives of people in the places he travels to.

During the past 10 years he has started and worked with some of the best and busiest wedding/portrait studios in the country, realizing that he can bring his passion for telling a story to the exciting drama of weddings. Now, with his own company, Ron B. Wilson Photography, he can blend his love for travel with passion for wedding and portrait photography creating a unique style perfect for destination weddings. Whether your wedding is in Central Park, South Beach, Long Island or on a Caribbean Island.
His experiences shooting fashion and portraits combined with his journalism background is what makes his work stand out. He looks forward to bringing his experience to any photography assignment.

Tips and Advice

How to Choose the Best Wedding Photographer

When it comes to memorializing your wedding day, it helps to have the best possible wedding photographer you can find. Unfortunately, finding the best wedding photographer is not as easy as it sounds. But you`re in luck! Here are the top six things you should do when trying to find the best wedding photographer to capture your special day that will help put you on the right track.

6. Talk to Friends and Family

If cousin Sandy or your best friend Mary just got married, talk to them and find out how pleased they were with their wedding photographer. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find a good wedding photographer. Ask them questions about the photographer such as how much they charge, what their personality is, etc. See if you can take a look at the photos that they had taken, so you can see if the photographer has a style that might work for you.

5. Visit the Photographers Websites

These days many wedding photographers, amateur and professional, have a website with some of their general information and even samples of their work. This is a great way for you to narrow down photographers that you want to contact for further information.

4. Make a Consultation Appointment

Make an appointment with multiple wedding photographers in your area… and keep them all! Even if you think the first photographer you visit is wonderful, follow through with the rest of the appointments. This is an important decision that you have to make, and having all available information to you will help you make the best decision. The first photographer might seem perfect, but the third or the fourth might be even better!

3. Ask Questions

If you have any questions at all, ask them. You are going to be paying for the photographers services and you have every right to have all of your questions answered. If there is anything you do not understand, have the photographer explain it to you until you do understand it.

2. Specify Your Needs

When meeting with your photographer, specify exactly what your needs and wants are. If you are looking for a particular style, it is important to let the photographer know up front. Additionally, if you have any specifications for behavior at your wedding, this is important as well. It is your wedding and you are paying for the photographers services. If they are not willing to abide by your requests and your wishes, you need to find another photographer.

1. Pay Attention to Personality

So the photographer may be the best wedding photographer in the entire state. If you or your future partner cannot stand his personality, it`s probably best to hire a different photographer. In order for things to run smoothly, you need to have a good relationship with your photographer. If you do not get along, it can cause problems and you could end up with terrible pictures.

By keeping these few simple tips in mind, you can easily find the best wedding photographer that will help capture your special day so that you can enjoy your wedding photos for years to come.
