Jen’s Top Ten!
10. Find a venue that you love, is close to your ceremony site, and will take little to make look fabulous. Work with the decor of the venue and don’t fight it! Believe me, it is not worth it and you will lose every time.
9. Make a priority list before hiring vendors. This way you can spend money where you want, and save in other areas.
8. Get a great photographer. I swear to you that you will not remember the details of your wedding day, and there are so many! I still tell the story of my husband’s and I’s first dance to people. He recorded our song and I clutched my chest when I heard it. But I only remember because of the picture of my hand on my chest. Pictures are crucial!!
7. Start small and grow, not the other way around. You will have less heartache this way. And changes come as happy surprises instead of heavy handed downers.
6. Let people in on the process, in a structured way. Life is more fun when you are living it with others, but try to keep a even keel.
5. Write a note of appreciation to your parents before the week of your wedding. Your mind will be so full of emotion that this will keep your words sincere and understandable. This is also nice to do for your vendors (especially if you are tipping them.)
4. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I have been planning weddings for years and things do not always go as planned. Be calm. There is a solution for everything!
3. Get organized. Buy a binder and put everything in sections. You can always file during TV every night. It doesn’t take long and keeps you of sound mind.
2. Relax and have fun! Get a message, go to dinner, buy a new outfit...whatever it takes, please enjoy the process. Weddings are much more fun that way!
1. Hire a consultant, really! Bridezillas are a result of stress and I take that away from you. I have never had a bridezilla, but I have had numerous happy brides. If you don’t believe that I can make your day a million times better than you imagined, try me. I do not disappoint :o).
