William and Margaret Sneddon

Serving the New York metropolitan area, Westchester County and the Hudson River Valley, northeastern New Jersey and southwestern Connecticut, the Hudson Heights Duo has a large repertoire of classical music, traditional wedding music for all faiths, Hebrew music, Celtic music, popular standards and show tunes from which they will help you coordinate the perfect program for you wedding or special event.

William and Margaret Sneddon are both professional musicians who discovered that they loved making music together when they met and, soon after, married. Margaret plays Classical and Celtic harps. Bill plays flute, oboe, English horn, clarinet and saxophone.


About Bill
Bill Sneddon Has a masters in music from University of Michegan and was formerly on the faculty of Western Kentucky University. Before moving to New York, he played in "For Me and My Gal" and "Music,Music,Music" starring Branda Lee at Opryland in Nashville.

Upon coming to New York, Bill began a career of playing on Broadway. In addition to playing woodwinds in the Lincoln Center production of "Dessa Rose" and appearing regularly in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, he plays in the orchestra for numerous Broadway shows.

Bill is on the Faculty of the Ethical Culture/Fieldston School in Riverdale, NY and teaches for the Rivertown Arts Council in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and at Bramson Music Studio in Mt. Kisco, NY.

About Margaret
Margaret Sanzo Sneddon studied harp with Ruth Negri Armato of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to a busy schedule of weddings, special events, teaching and therapeutic music, she has played in the orchestra for many regional theater productions including; "The Fantastics", "My Fair Lady", "South Pacific", "Once Upon a Matress", and "A Grand Night for Singing". She also played for President Bill Clinton at National Hall in Connecticut.

For several years, Margaret traveled the world as on-board harp soloist for Radisson (now Regent) Seven Seas and Celebrity Cruise Lines. She was also a guest artist on Delta Queen.

Today, Margaret is much in demand as a solo performer and as part of the Hudson Height Harp and Flute Duo with her husband, Bill. She is on the faculty of Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory in Tarrytown, NY and works as a Certified Therapeutic Music Practitioner for Phelps Hospice in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

What is your band's usual attire?
We usually wear formal or informal black wedding attire. However, when we are performing as a Celtic duo we can wear Celtic attire - kilts and tartens.
 
Do you offer live sample performances or CDs?
From time to time we perform showcases which are posted on our website. Consultations can also be arranged by appointment.
 
Are you willing to learn songs that you do not currently know?
Not every song is appropriate for harp but we are surely willing to take a look at the music and let you know. There may be an additional cost for very difficult music.
 
How much time do you usually need for setup?
We allow about a half hour for set-up.
 
How much space do you usually require?
We need a rectangular space of about 5 feet by 7 feet.
 
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We come with sound equipment.
 
Do you usually emcee the event, or talk between songs?
When presenting a program, we talk between songs. However, when we are playing for a ceremony or cocktail hour, we do not act as emcee.
 
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you need a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Our usually engagement is of one or two hour and we do not require a meal break.
 
What is your overtime rate?
Our rate is $625.00 for the first hour and $125.00 for each additional half hour.
 
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Our rates include travel within 20 miles of Tarrytown, NY. After that we charge roughly $2.00 per mile. We also charge extra for going to Long Island or midtown Manhattan.
