Though the property is beautiful, and overall we had a lovely day with our friends and family, I would strongly advise anyone against hosting their wedding or event here. You'll see from reviews on Yelp that we are not the only ones who had a poor experience dealing with Hera, who is—to put it diplomatically—unkind and unprofessional. My husband and I followed every clause in the contract, from using battery-operated candles and self-contained restrooms that wouldn’t be hooked up to Hera’s water supply to hiring two outside parking attendants and securing our own liability insurance. Hera, on the other hand, did not honor her end of the agreement. The main power source, which was located in the property’s main barn, was antiquated and insufficient; the power went out on three separate occasions: at the end of our ceremony; after our first dance; and one last time right before dinner. Reluctantly, and to her great displeasure, Hera finally agreed to hook up the power to her house. (The power never went out again.) Even though we had rented the property from 4 p.m. to midnight, Hera tried to stop our reception at 9 p.m., three hours early; she even went so far as to threaten to call the police on our DJ if he didn’t turn off the music. Her threatening, irrational, and erratic behavior was upsetting and completely changed the dynamic of the final part of the reception. But, unfortunately, that wasn't the end of her bad behavior and unprofessional approach. The following morning, she claimed there was "damage" to her barn: the damage, which consisted of a single wet spot on a single floorboard of her barn, was from a few pieces of ice. Because we knew the floorboard would dry within a few hours, we realized she was just looking for an excuse to keep our $500 deposit. Ultimately, Hera doesn't seem to like having people or vendors on her property and this venue, despite its beauty and potential, is absolutely not worth it.
