The Gadjo Gypsies are a premiere act in the style of Gypsy jazz. Evoking the spirit of the jazz age in Paris where the likes of Josephine Baker and Louis Armstrong were major figures, The Gadjo Gypsies emulate the famous Quintette du Hot Club de France. The Hot Club de France was highly acclaimed as Europe’s answer to jazz with the virtuosic Stephane Grapelli on violin and the enigmatic Gypsy genius, Django Reinhardt on guitar. In the same vein as the Hot Club, the Gadjo Gypsies perform a mix of American swing, Gypsy and French musette songs with a jazz flair and nuances of European and Gypsy flavor. Instrumentation: Yusuf Kilgore- guitar; Bryan Thurber- violin; Josh Rust- guitar; Jeff Gray- double bass. The Gadjo Gypsies are driven by improvisation and swing hard through their arrangements.
The Gadjo Gypsies’ past performances include Concert settings, Clubs, private parties, weddings and multiple festivals throughout the western Washington region to include: Anacortes Jazz Festival, Bellingham Concerts in the Parks, Edmonds Art Festival, Linuxfest NW, The Anacortes Library- Jazz at the Library series, Astoria Crab and Seafood Festival, Anacortes Jazz Walk, Lummi Island Chili Cook-Off, Skagit Valley College Foundation Gala Auction and the museum of radio and electricity to name a few.
