Every woman wants to look their most beautiful on their Wedding Day. Where do you start when it comes to presenting your best face on this Special Day? Finding a Make-up Artist for your ‘Special Day’ can be a daunting task to say the least. However, having a makeup artist for your Wedding Day is one of the most important vendors you can invest in. Why? Photos are Forever.

Here are a few essential tips you may use as a guide in finding the right Artist and a Pre-Wedding Beauty Regimen.

Let’s start with the basics. Your skin needs to go on a diet! Drink lots of water, and more water than you would usually drink. At least 5-10 glass of water a day. Also, concentrate on avoiding foods, with high sugar, and salt content. As well as limit your dairy. This will help you detoxify and expel bacteria underneath the skin. Glowing skin is also attainable through good skincare products and spa treatments.

Pre-Trial/Consultation

1. At your initial preview or consultation your Artist should first discuss with you any skin issues you may have. Your make-up artist should check with you to be sure you don't have any allergies to certain products or chemicals.

2. Try to schedule your preview in the morning or early afternoon so you can really see how your makeup will hold up for the rest of the day. This will help you determine if it’s enough coverage and just how well your makeup will withstand the weather.You should only need to touch up with powder and lipstick. Also try to schedule your preview on a day where you will be meeting with someone, or will be around someone who can give you an honest opinion.

3. BE VOCAL! Don't be shy in discussing what you want. Your makeup Artist can't make it perfect if you don't tell them what you like and what you dislike.  It's YOUR wedding day, Have pictures ready with different styles of make-up. Your Artist should be able to offer ideas and alternatives to suite your look. Also, check out your Makeup Artist listening skills. Are they listening to you? You should never be “bullied” into a look. Make sure your opinions are heard, and be firm about what you like and don’t like. However, you can be open to their suggestions and ideas.

4. BE HONEST! about the results. Let him/her know what you liked and what you disliked. You want to look and feel like you, only better. At the end of the session be honest about these results, and your artist should make adjustments as needed. --- Still not happy? Consider another Artist and book a trial. All, makeup services should be booked no less than a month before the Wedding.

5. Check with your Makeup Artist to see if she offers a makeup kit, included, or for Purchase, for your Touchup throughout the day. Recommended for basic needs is powder, lipstick, or gloss of choice.

6. ENJOY being pampered! This should not be a stressful event, it should be relaxing, and assuring that your Wedding Day look  is achieved. This is a great opportunity for you to learn about what brand and type of make-up works for you.

7. Your make-up should look natural to the naked eye and flawless in photographs. Yes, you may need more than you normally wear... but it shouldn't feel or look as if it has been caked on. I always ask my brides how their skin feels when I am done with foundation. It should feel light and airy, not heavy.

8 . Drink a lot of water! It will hydrate your skin, and your make-up will wear so much better. Don't start the week before the wedding! Start NOW... 8 to 10 glasses a day. It will also help you burn fat and stay toned.
