Describe your DJ style:
Polished, fun, professional and able to go with the flow. My job is to make your guests feel welcome on the dance floor by playing a good variety of music for all ages, and not scare them away with loud music, games, or props.
What is your usual attire?
A formal black tuxedo unless otherwise specified. I did a wedding on a Cape Cod beach this summer and was asked to wear Kaki pants and a Tommy Bahama shirt. It was a lot of fun.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
With the digital age that rarely happens. If it is available on line I will provide it. If it is a song that is not available for sale, I am happy to get it from the bride and groom.
How many other DJs do you work with?
At a normal size, single event it is just me. Because of my experience, it always works well.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
My price is the same for a four or five hour reception. Overtime is available.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
I encourage it. I have office hours by appointment for our initial appointment, and then for our "final details meeting" about three weeks to a month before "The Big Day".
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
I have played Irish, Italian, Greek, Hebrew, Middle Eastern, Japanese, Chinese, Brazilian, Portugese, German, and many other international weddings. With the help of the bride and groom and their families, I feel very confident that I can add a good mix of ethnic music to make the event fun for everyone.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
No. I am usually hired by people who do not want them.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
I arrive one hour before the official start time of an event. I do require a 6 or 8 foot table with linen.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
I can usually fit in a 6' x 10' space.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Yes I emcee, and talk only as much as needed to invite people onto the dance floor.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
It is not required, but I do ask if a meal will be provided so that I can make other arrangements.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Yes, I encourage you to select cocktail and dinner music as well as dance music.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes, I work with a network of 8 great DJ's in my area. We back each other up, and cover for each other in emergency. We also meet monthly to keep up with the latest wedding trends, and discuss how to improve our performance.
What is your overtime rate?
$200.00 per half hour.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Yes, but it depends on how far, and if an overnight stay is required. It's all negotiable.
