Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Yes, we do offer old-fashioned hand-coloring, a process of applying photographic oil paints directly to the surface of the print producing a finished piece that is truly a work of art.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Yes. We come prepared for any lighting situation, be it a candle-lit ceremony or family formals portraits scheduled for high noon, when the sun is directly overhead.
Is your media preference film or digital?
My love affair with film continues...
Despite the fantastic technological advances of digital imaging, I have made the not-so-easy decision to shoot exclusively film. To me there is a charm and beauty in the physical method of film exposure and processing; tending toward images with greater character and depth.
How many photographers do you work with?
Three, though I love shooting with Victoria Pember, who in fact covered my wedding last August 2008 and did a wonderful job.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, it is always either myself as solo shooter, or myself and a second professional photographer.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Never more than one wedding per day! I do limit the number of weddings I shoot in a particular weekend so I am at my very best creatively.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes, there are a number of colleagues who's work and reputation I trust and would be confident to call upon in the event of an emergency.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I carry 4 Nikon F100 (film) bodies, several lenses, 3 flashes, brackets, a tripod and backup equipment. And lots of batteries!
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Always. I will never be without working equipment on your wedding day.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
Hourly.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
There are no overtime fees.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Sometimes two, sometimes none. It depends on the pace of the day.
Do you charge for travel?
Coverage includes location within a 25 mile radius of my home in 19038. A small travel fee may be assessed if locations fall beyond that distance.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Approximately 6 weeks.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Proofs are hand-printed, 4x6 mat finish and come borderless so that prints can be framed and enjoyed.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
They are your to keep forever in a Kate's Paperie image box.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, though we do offer the negatives (including the rights) for sale upon your first anniversary.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, however, if a client prefers that I keep their images private that is not a problem.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes, even though I shoot film, all negatives are scanned to a high-resolution digital format so that images can be viewed by friends and family online, via Pictage. All proofs and album prints are made from the film, resulting in a higher quality image. Its the best of both worlds.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, please see above.
What kind of albums do you offer?
I currently offer Art Leather, Classic & Cypress Albums.
When will the client get the final album?
Couples with receive their final album approximately 90 days after they make their final selections.
