While I agree they set the tone, I don't think they have to be super matchy or theme-fitting. Many choose options in their colors, or inspiration they find in the bride's dress. Others choose something with a certain font that just looks right with their names. I really like when the grooms get involved in the decision because it can be one of the first compromises they will make as a couple, and can show how well they collaborate. I think that is the important part of selecting the invitations. I enjoy helping couples find something that represents their style.

They're not important to me. However, they are to my ma. I plan on using Wedding Paper Divas and then using office max to print address/ amenities cards.

Since DH is a deaigner ours were very important to us. They were in our colors and had that vintage feel to reflect our venue.

I didn't want to spend a fortune on our invites, but I really wanted them to reflect us. This is the only picture I have right now. Our colors were purple and grey, and the heart at the top is made out of fingerprints---I am a crime scene investigator--so they fit "us." We also had RSVP cards with purple envelopes, an insert card with website and accommodation info, and then an ivory belly band that had purple polka dots.

I've shared ours before on other threads as I just adore them. Our wedding colors are Metallics (gold, silver copper and blush pink) so they don't really match too much. I did carry the light pink geometric pattern onto the rest of the wedding items (our wedding welcome poster, some of our other printed stuff). I am also a stationary junkie so it was hard for me not go overboard, but I bound then pretty simply with some printed vellum. They are absolutely reflective of our style.

Here's a digital proof of our invitations. The look of our invitations were important to me.. So they were custom made to fit our theme/vision

This is my inspiration from Etsy. I wasn't too worried about finding something to fit, but I did want something to go with my colors. I stumbled upon this one, and it's perfect. It'll be in our colors, of course.

I want them to at least match our colors. I'd like them to match our theme in some way (I may buy a globe rubber stamp to stamp at the top of one I like) but if it doesn't it's fine. With our reception and ceremony being in the same area, I don't need a lot of information out there except for a basic card with our hotel block info on it.

Not the best pics (and I forgot to bring one to the wedding, so no pro pics), but I think it matched the nautical glam theme I had going on. The envelope had our venue in the background.
