Your something old, new, borrowed and blue?

Heather, on June 26, 2017 at 3:57 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 43

I know a lot of people probably aren't doing it, but if you do, what are they?

For my old I'm wearing a necklace my grandma got me for my sweet 16. She's no longer with us so it's very important to me.

My blue is my shoes but I'm not super sure on my borrowed or new yet.

Old: a handkerchief my grandma gave me. New: shoes, borrowed: don't know, blue: shoes. And I have a sixpence from the year Df was born for my shoe. (The last line of the rhyme is, "...and a silver sixpence in her shoe.")

Old - my great grandmother's ring, she passed away a few years ago

    New - my ring

Borrowed - my mother's original engagement ring (she has upgraded since)

Blue - a sapphire ring for my right hand

It's cheesy but I wanted to keep with a "theme" hence why they're all rings!

I also had a real silver sixpence that was over a hundred years old, my great grandfather was a coin collector and he had several in his collection. I'm excited to keep it in the family and pass it down to my daughters!

Old - pearl earrings that my aunt gave me for my birthday years ago.

New - pearl necklace and pearl bracelet that my parents and my brother gave me for my 30th birthday a few months before my wedding meant to match the earrings they knew I planned to wear.

Borrowed - a piece of lace from my mom's wedding dress that was pinned underneath my dress (I didn't exactly put it back).

Blue - my engagement ring (has two sapphires).

Old: a pin on my bouquet that belonged to a dear friend of mine.

    New: dress/shoes.

Borrowed: my MOH pinned a pearl earring to my bouquet as well.

Blue: the gemstone in my necklace and earrings was tanzanite which I think is more purple but lots of people say it's blue.

And the silver sixpence was from my boss who got it for me in Ireland. Smiley smile

I wasn't planning on doing this but as i posted recently, i was lent a sixpence for my shoe that other brides have carried, which is something old/borrowed. everything else i'm wearing is new (shoes/dress/headpiece). struggling with what to do for something blue, but it will probably be either a blue ribbon on my bouquet or undies Smiley smile
