Your dog, your wedding

Ivy, on January 27, 2017 at 11:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

Anyone else planning to have their dog/puppy/pet in your wedding? Is he/she walking down the aisle or just there for photos?

I wanted my german shepherd there for pictures and the ceremony but in my situation of having the wedding out of town I wouldn't know what do do with him after. If you can make it happen and maybe have someone take him home after so you don't have to worry about watching him later I think it would be adorable!

Both of our dogs (a yorkie and a peekapoo) will be in our wedding. My 8 year old niece will walk them down the aisle and then hand them off to a member of my wedding planner's team who will bring them to doggy daycare for the rest of the evening. Both of our dogs are super friendly and get really excited around a lot of people. The worse thing that could happen is that the yorkie will likely pee while walking down the aisle from excitement haha.

Why would you set your poor groom to be outshined by an adorable dog in a tuxedo? I mean who could compete with that level of cuteness??

We are having our dog for pictures and being announced at the reception. our neighbors who do not want to come to the wedding (working early that morning and the next, and I have a night reception) will bring the dog over to the reception for the pictures and then take her home after we are announced.

I wanted to but the venue owner said she would have to be in her crate for the rest of the evening after the ceremony was done and that made me sad. So she'll have a better time running around at home.

I wanted to so bad. But we are skipping it. But we are having our cake topper custom made with a silhouette of a cat and a dog and having pictures of our pets on our sweetheart table.

Our dog will be our ring bearer and will hang out with FH before everything gets going (venue is pet-friendly).

But, definitely ask yourself the question @Kate put above. My pup is a former PTSD service dog, so he is very used to crowds and noise and he is impeccably trained, so we're not concerned about his behavior. He will also be getting picked up by a dog sitter and brought back to my parents' house to spend the night with their dogs. You need to cover all logistics.

I would love for my pup to be in my wedding but he isn't fond of people. He may be in my photos.

He's hypoallergenic. So, it's a go. I do plan to just put him away for have a relative take him back to my home afterwards since I'm getting married in my hometown.

I wish but my dog has too much energy to settle with that many people around. I would also feel bad because it would be a lot of stress for her to be around so many people and in a new environment and not be allowed to explore and she would really turn into more of a prop than anything else which isn't fair to her so she will be staying with her puppy aunts at my mom's

My dog is a gem in a group of people and I would LOVE to have him there, he was in my first wedding and it was wonderful.

Alas, I think he would hate the sailing portion of the day and I'm not hiring someone to drive him 45 minutes home after the ceremony. I'm actually going to have to figure out where he'll stay that day as both of my regular pet sitters will be at the wedding.

I want this so badly but my pup cannot go five seconds without hugging me and I think he would tear up my lace dress badly

So not 100% related, but funny... FH loves his cat, and talked for a long while about having the cat be the ring bearer. Idk if you know anything about cats, but they don't listen and are usually very skittish around new people and large crowds. I put my foot down on that one. He got everything else he wanted, but no cat.

We are having our black lab in the ceremony. He's extremely important to myself and my fiance. One of our groomsman is picking him up on the way up to the wedding. Our accommodations have pet friendly rooms. He is staying in that room with a groomsman the night before (we are paying for his accommodations as a thank you for helping us out). He'll be checked regularly whenever he's in his crate in the room (so, before and after the ceremony), and he'll be taken home the next morning.

He's extremely social, well trained, and well behaved. I wouldn't recommend attempting this if your dog is at all timid or poorly trained...

I wish I could include my dog but she's just too much of a handful. There's too many moving parts to deal with in bringing a dog to a wedding, at least, for my dog.

Our dog would absolutely hate being a part of our wedding. He doesn't like new people and would probably bark for the entire ceremony. Then we'd have to occupy him during he reception. So he's not going to physically be there.

However, I had this cute idea that instead of doing table numbers I was going to use both our family pet photos instead. It's a small way to incorporate them without causing them stress.

My two Malamutes are going to be ring bearers, and will be walked up the aisle by the flower girls. During the reception they'll be wearing GoPros Smiley smile Our new puppy (French Bulldog) will NOT be part of the events as I'm afraid she'll be stepped on!

My two dogs will be the ring bearer and flower pup. I am arranging for a sitter to pick them up after the ceremony and take them to daycare for the night. Honestly I would have picked an elopement but it was really important for my pups to be there (I'm just a bit obsessed with them, Lol). They both love people so I'm not worried about them being there for the morning but decided on daycare after so no one had to worry about watching after them during the ceremony.
