Youngest Maid of Honor

How old is/was your maid of honor? My sister will be 16 by the time I get married and I'm not sure how I feel about her age as a maid of honor :/

My best friend had her very shy/timid 18-year-old sister as MOH. I planned the bachelorette party and gave a speech at the reception, her sister planned the shower with their mom. MOH is an honor that should be given to the person closest to you. Even though I did a lot of the traditional MOH things, I understood why she picked her sister. Someone else doesn't need the MOH title to step up and do things for you that a younger sister can't.

When my sister got married I was 19, & was her maid of honor. We are best friends. I planned the bridal shower(with the help of our mom) & a "bachelorette" party. We had a big outdoor party til 11pm or so then her & some of her friends went to a local bar. I wasn't the youngest bridesmaid either.

I was 15 when I was the MOH in my sister's wedding (9 years older) and there were no other MOHs. Since she was in college, my mom and I made most of her centerpiece decorations and also planned and held her bridal shower at our parents' house. She had her Bachelorette party with the bridesmaids that were over 21 and I think it was mostly bar-hopping so not much planning was required. My speech at the wedding reception was very short and sweet since I wasn't too fond of public speaking at the time. I was also able to sign as a witness on her marriage license.

If you want her to act as your wedding planner, then maybe she isn't a good fit. If you just want to honor her as being a special person in your life, then I would definitely say she can be your MOH. I'm sure she will appreciate that you respect and value her opinion and want her to be involved.

I think it worked out well that my mom and I kind of "shared" some of those typical responsibilities since I was still in high school so hopefully you have that option with your family. If not, I'm sure you have other bridesmaids that would step up to help out as needed as well.

My MOH will be 23 at the time of my wedding! I wouldn't let your sister's age bother you too much. The only thing you really need to worry about is the speech - if she's giving one. My MOH hasn't been helping me much, so I wouldn't sweat the small stuff Smiley smile

Usually your MOH would be the one who signs the certificate as one of your witnesses. In my state, that person has to be 18 to sign. Other than that, I'm not sure why her age should affect you in any way. She's not responsible to help you plan anything, just to buy a dress and show up. If it were me, I'd have her as MOH if we are that close, and ask mom or somebody else to sign.

My MOH is my little sister, she will be 18 when I get married. I don't expect her to plan anything but if she wants to help I will let her. My future sisters in law live out of town and I want them to be my bridesmaids but I haven't asked them yet.

My MoH will be 19 and one of my bridesmaids will be 12. I’m probably not having any pre wedding things (I live across the country from them) so it doesn’t bother me. These people are important in my life and I wouldn’t want to get married without them.
