So I will be getting married to my high school sweetheart. We've been dating for 3 years and will be getting married in December of 2021. I am currently 19 years old and will be married at 21 years. I've heard before that young brides have troubles getting treated like a bride when they go out. More specifically when they shop for wedding dresses. I'm wondering if anyone has had poor experiences or know people who had such. I'm worried that I'll be judged very heavily and won't be taken seriously.

I have a budget of about $5000 for a wedding dress.
And for those asking "why so young?" Well we're both very Catholic and don't see a point in waiting till after we graduate college. We already have life long plans and what not. Please do not attack me or my choices based off of my age.

Unfortunately I don't exactly have another adult that can attend with me. Both our parents live out of state and can only make it down foe our actual wedding.

Hey Morgan, I know I’m late here but I wanted to comment because I’m a young bride too.

I married my high school sweetheart in June. We were both 19. Were both religious as well so that’s why we decided to get married young. We stayed in college, work, and everything’s been great. Best decision!!
My advise, go in confidently and look like you have your stuff together. When people ask you your age (which they will) I would just give a small laugh and say “haha I know I look young” and then move on. Don’t tell them you’re 19, that just invites judgement lol.
My wedding dress experience was one that wasn’t impacted by my age. I came in confidently with a decent budget and they treated me respectfully. They realized I had the money so they didn’t judge lol.
I found challenges with other places though including booking our wedding. We paid for the entire $25000 wedding ourselves (Not that my parents didn’t approve, they just don’t have the money) but often people would say things like “if you want to check with your mom and get back to me” assuming she’s paying for it. The venue contacted my mom directly once which is crazy idk how they even got her number!!
It was really bad when I was shopping for lingerie. When I told the lady I was looking for honeymoon attire she was like “danggg I though you skipped school to come to the mall you look like you’re 16” yeah that was fun.
Anyways, be confident, have a clear budget, and bring someone with you that won’t allow people to get away with little comments. Doing my makeup in a way that made me look a bit older helped too lol. Good luck! Message me if you have any more young bride questions!!
