Wrinkles in my wedding dress

Honey27, on July 21, 2009 at 4:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

My dress has been pressed and everthing and was looking great. But some how hanging in the closest caused it to get a few wrinkles. I want my dress to be flawless. How can i get them out??? I dont want to have to take it back in. I have already paid 400 for alterations and pressing....

Ya know I was so worried about this too. My dress was 100% silk and even just putting it in the bag to drive up to where the wedding was would cause wrinkles. I thought about getting a steam machine to have for it just before I put it on. But really as soon as you sit in it or move at all wrinkles are inevitable. So I understand wanting it pristine, but if it's only very light wrinkling that you would have with regular wear anyway, try to let it go, no one will notice and it won't show in your photos. If it's more severe wrinkling then you might have to go in and have it done but wait until just a couple days before the wedding and don't go anywhere that's not reputable. You'll wish you'd kept the wrinkles if they end up ruining your dress!

If you are going to have a place to get ready in available the night before take your dress and drop it off. Early in the morning if available steam it in the bathroom with a hot shower.

I agree with vegas, hang it in the bathroom when you shower and see if the steam from that doesnt take out the wrinkels

One additional note...keep it in a cool place once you have it the way you want it. Whoever cleaned and pressed it for you may be wiling to do a touch up about 2 days before the wedding.

Do NOT try an iron, even if you're not touching it to the fabric. I've seen dresses have holes burned in them from just trying to steam afar. But a steamer, hang it in the bathroom, or get it done professionally.

This dress looked VERY wrinkled on the hangar, but once on, you can't tell.
