WR: Renting fine jewelry...?

Marti, on October 6, 2010 at 8:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I have been searching for jewelry to wear for my wedding and I noticed that theknot.com offers to rent fine jewelry (ex. a $9,000 necklace for $75, etc.). Would you ever consider doing that? I'm not sure how I feel about doing something like this. I mean, I will probably NEVER wear my jewelry from my wedding again, but I don't know how I feel about not having my complete wedding look stored somewhere when it's all said and done... what do you guys think about this?

I think it is a good idea.. what is the point of spending all that money and then never wearing it again?!

You could always ask to borrow your jewellery from a family member... For my Civil Ceremony I wore a necklace and bracelet given to my MIL by her godfather when she graduated from College. It had a tiny sapphire so it was my something old, borrowed, and blue. Smiley smile Maybe your grandmother or an aunt or someone has some pieces that would go perfectly with the look you want.

I was thinking of renting from http://www.adorn.com because my mom really wants me to use real jewelry instead of crystals. However, I don't think I'll go that route simply because I'm scared I'll end up losing it. Besides, there are so many nice pieces that glitter better than diamonds elsewhere. I found this website last night and thought it had some useful tips: http://www.annabellagio.com/

Adorn is great! I have worked with them many times in the past for my clients who want the glitz without the price tag. They have some very pretty, and totally bridal appropriate, selections.

I'm wearing my late grandmother's pearls as a necklace but I am seriously considering renting my earrings and bracelet if I don't find anything I like that I think I could wear again.

That's a great idea. Can you get some type of insurance?
