Would you do a Signature Drink if it cost this much?

Originally we wanted to do signature drinks. We wanted Mai Tais and Blue Hawaiians which both fit our colors and our tropical Hawaiian theme. However, during cocktail hour we get a free open bar (included in our package) but the signature drinks would still cost extra. Then after dinner we plan to have the bar open with beer and wine options and we're paying by consumption (our guests aren't heavy drinkers in general, they can pay if they want hard alcohol after dinner but we will cover beer and wine, this is common in my family for weddings). I thought the signature cocktails might be nice to have either after dinner or during cocktail hour. However the drinks will cost $11 for mai tais and $13 for blue hawaiians...each!

So do you think that adding the signature drinks is necessary? Would it be worth that cost? If you were at a wedding with free beer and wine, would you go for that or the signature cocktail? Just wanting opinions on it, thanks!

Could you have one signature drink instead of two?

I don't like sugary mixed drinks, so as a guest I would probably have one just to say I did (with it being a signature drink and all), but certainly wouldn't miss the option if it wasn't there.

I will also say that a lot of people don't really go for the sugary drinks. If your guests don't typically drink, I wouldn't bother.

I think it's pretty silly of your venue to charge you just to call it a "signature drink". Can't you just call it "His favorite/ Her favorite" with a sign on the bar as a suggestion for guests who don't know what cocktail to order? But to answer your question, I love signature cocktails and would order one as a guest, but probably wouldn't pay that much for them if I were you. And I would not notice at all if you didn't have a signature cocktail; I'd order a cocktail of choice or be happy with wine.

That's too much. We skipped signature drinks and just did beer, wine, and champagne. No one seemed to notice or care. Signature drinks seem like a recent fad that's quite unnecessary IMO.

Damn...and here we are, cutting the signature drink because it's going to cost us $7 per drink. If it's in your budget, do it. It isn't in ours right now.
