Would it be weird to have my 10 year old daughter as my maiden of honor?

irin997, on October 29, 2010 at 9:37 AM Posted in Planning 1 21

My daughter will be 10 when FH and I get married and I don't have any siblings, close relatives, or any close friends that I would even consider to ask to be my maid of honor. I was planning on having my daughter as a junior bridesmaid but am now thinking that maybe she should be my maiden of honor? What do you think? Other than FH, she is the most important person in my life....

My soon-to-be step-daughter will be 11 when she is the Maid of Honor for our wedding.

I think it is a great idea. My 10 year old and 13 year old nieces were both my Bridesmaids. And where I live the MOH and BestM did not sign the marriage license, only the bride the groom and the officiant.

Our children are our entire bridal party. My oldest will also be 10 and standing right next to me during our ceremony. Obviously, I have no problems with it.

And to anyone who has issues having the most important person in your life being your MOH- well, they just aren't the type of people you want to associate with too closely...

Aww thanks everyone! I think I will go for it and have her as my little maiden of honor! She wanted to say something at the reception anyway. Smiley smile

My six year old (will be seven at wedding) is my MOH. I also have my sister and BFF as Matrons of Honor.

I think it is great! How special for her. I had my "step daughter to be" as a bridesmaid--she is 10.

Hmm, so I mentioned it to FH and he doesn't seem thrilled with the idea. I told him it's either her or I don't have one. Smiley sad

I think its a great idea. I have a 10 year old daughter and considered having her as my maid of honor but she's quite shy and, frankly, I don't think she's interested in the job. Instead we are honoring her with vows specific to her and presenting her with a necklace during the ceremony.

I think it would be lovely to have your daughter up there with you. She is your precious little girl and she should have a starring role.

Have her as your maiden of honor (Love the idea), just be sure there is a person 18 to sign your wedding license.

Oh yeah do it. I mean I would if I had a daughter :-) Even if she was younger. It will give her the highest honor next to be the bride up there! Go for it :-)

I wish I would have done this to avoid the 'who's better' question in the bridesmaids. I got mostly pushed by MOH to have her as the MOH... in fact she just assumed. And now I'm having problems. So I say go for it!! She will be so happy and it will be so special for you Smiley smile
