would a slip help with shorten the dress a bit?

One of the gals at the bridal shop told me that a slip would help with shorten the gown a little bit. My dress is a ball gown and it needs about 3.5 inch cut off. I can only wear 2 inch heel or a flat.

What do you think?

I think it might work if it's a very poufy slip that would add more body to the dress. Did they have any at the shop to try on?

No they didn't have any. I have decided to go with my mom's alterations. I just bought a full slip and test it out. Hopefully, I won't need to do hem the dress.

Good news...I just put it on today with proper shoes and everything fits perfectly. All my mom needs to do is to put in the bustle. I am a perfect size 4 yes!!!

I wore a ball gown for my prom with a 4 hoop slip, it pulled the dress up a few inches!

Oh that's good news for me. Can't wait for the slip to ship to me so I can try it and I don't have to wear heels.

Also by doing bustle, I can put blue ribbon for something blue.
