Worrying about RSVPs?

Our invitations went out a month ago. Our "rsvp by" date isn't for another two weeks, but I'm getting nervous because less than half of the guests have responded. I know they have a bit more time but I'm really not looking forward to tracking 90+ people down. People who have been there, do most...

We had about a third come within the last 3 days of the rsvp date, and another 10ish come after the date (i.e. they mailed it on the RSVP date so I got it a few days after).

Next week, start sending some texts to people! "Hey, haven't got your rsvp yet, just wanted to hear from you!" etc. Save you some headache after the date!

@Kendra I'm in the same boat as you. We mailed invitations the last week of March, RSVP date of May 1, and we share the same wedding date as you (6/3 eek!). We have heard back from 188 out of 410 people. UGH. My bridal shower is this weekend and my bachelorette party is the next weekend. The RSVP date is right after we get back from my bachelorette so it looks like I'm spending that whole week contacting the 200 people who don't know what RSVP and DUE BY mean.

Don't worry about it until a few days past the due date. Mail speed can vary from place to place so I wouldn't worry.

Worst comes to worst you just have to call or text people along the lines of haven't heard from you blah blah blah.

Hmmm - we only had about 8 people we needed to reach out to that hadn't RSVP'd out of 260 invited (about 130 invites). I would say we got 50% the first week after we sent out the invites, and then the rest trickled in until the last week when we got another huge wave.

    I did paper RSVPs.

Date twin! And my RSVP date is May 1 as well. I've had about 71 guests of 300 respond already. I figure about 75 of those that haven't responded won't. We did all online and made sure all of our guests were tech savvy enough to handle it. One last minute addition by my mom wasn't (to our surprise) and she's old school enough that she wrote a note to my mom.

I'm not worried until May 1. I know that I wait until the last minute sometimes, not on purpose. But I'm really hoping those 200+ people RSVP soon because I don't have time to make that many phone calls!

My friend put a password on her wedding website the week that the rsvp cards were due and then sent an email/message to all who hadn't rsvp'd giving them the code as a reminder without being too annoying. She said she got lots of late RSVPs that way.

Getting RSVP's back has been the most stressful part of planning for me. Our deadline is Saturday and we are still waiting on 45 responses. FH and I plan on calling and texting people starting next Tuesday with a final count of next Friday. After that, I'm done.

We haven't received responses from like half of the guests (mostly on FH side).

We had a super early RSVP by date though. But, it's been three weeks since the date and still waiting.

People will slack. But, I also know in one case for sure that they haven't received the invite, even though we sent it twice! So, I guess it's possible others didn't receive.

    @Amanda - I used The Knot.

Also, I sent my invites out 9 weeks early.

All I can say is prepare yourself for the bullsh*t!

I shared a similar experience as @GymRat. They came in droves the first week, steady throughout the second week. Slowed and damn near stopped until the week of the deadline. After that we had to reach out to about 30 people. Also, prepare yourself for people to miss your hotel block deadline...LOL That's a new battle. However, it isn't my battle so I'll let them adult and figure their own ish out.

We got a lot in the first two weeks of sending the invitations.....then there was a lull..........last week, in one day, we received 5. So many people wait to figure out sitters, travel plans, etc.

We don't need to give a headcount to our venue until 48 hours before, so I'm thankfully only worried about RSVPs in terms of a seating chart.

I have organized 3 weddings. Of all three, the week of the deadline was when the bulk of our RSVPs came in. A few more trickled in the week after, and a few before.

If it helps, some people won't send their RSVP cards back until the date it says on the card. (I.e. your return by date). You're still 2 weeks from the "due date", more will come in soon!!!
