Worried about getting my dress too dirty...

lauren, on October 8, 2013 at 4:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

We plan to get married in vineyards. It's all dirt. I'm worried my dress will get too dirty and look awful the rest of the night. Any suggestions for keeping it from getting so dirty? What to put down, something other than an isle runner?

    Honestly, I think you can't worry too much about it because you won't be having fun if you're busy thinking about your dress getting dirty! I walked around A LOT during the photos on the grass on my wedding day and I was originally worried about it getting dirty but on the day of, my BMs helped me hold up my dress while I was walking around and at the end of the night, I took a look at my hem and it actually came out fairly clean.

    I agree; don't worry about it too much. You will drive yourself crazy and won't be able to fully enjoy your wedding if you're constantly afraid for your dress. If it's in your budget, you could always have some kind of flooring constructed (there are companies that create dance floors and the like). Also, if you have a long train, bustle it up.

    Ok first, i hope your dress isn't long. if it is, you better have a super great bustle or think about hemming your dress. second, i would put down some kind of some kind of walkway for you. my suggestion: go to Lowe's and look for those square stepping mats or bricks. that way, you don't have to walk directly on the dirt.

    I'm worried about this too. We're doing portraits in the woods, in a ballgown, before the ceremony. . . :/

    I agree you'll need help-- I think actually pictures of grooms helping their brides with the dress are some of the sweetest Smiley smile

    But I'm also considering something like this (useful for more than just peeing):

    In the moment / day of --- I didn't care. We were in grass and dirt for the reveal. After that, I kept stepping on in and the embellishments went "crunch crunch" whateverrr

    A good bustle can work and this would be a time i would say a aisle runner would be needed.

    @Barbara - Thank you so much for posting the link. I've been so worried about this. I now know that when I have to 'go', I can do it by myself. Oh what a relief !

    We did a lot of walking around in the dirt around the grounds of our venue and my shoes did get pretty dirty and looking at the dress later the next day it was a bit dirty but day of with everything happening and all the excitement it will not even matter. Unless you will be rolling around on the ground its not going to be anything noticeable.

    I peed backwards! My sis helped most times but at the end of the night I realized I could do it myself. My wife's dress was more poofy so she couldnt

    @Tina, you bet they are.

    @Lauren, I got so excited about the 'P' post I didn't answer your question. I'd look into the carpet squares. They could be placed on the ground for your photos. Ultimately your dress will probably have some dirt but it should cleanup just fine. Try not to stress.

    I love the winery, I looked into doing that also. I know you'll have a wonderful wedding.

    I got married outside. I had a sidewalk to walk down and I cleaned it with the bottom of my dress. I had so many leaves and dirt stuck to the bottom. But you know what, it really didn't matter. No one noticed that the edge of the bottom was dirty. I did, but i knew it was a possibility. It was easily washable.
