Worried about damaging my engagement ring

First get insurance. Second if it's a diamond you should know diamonds are very hard and thus hard to chip.

Get insurance and you'll be fine. I work at a hospital and constantly pang my ring against things or even when I'm not at work it still happens. I have a white gold solitare so I'm not worried about any small diamonds falling out but it makes it easier with insurance. Our jeweler will replace my diamond if it falls out.

Make sure you put insurance on it

I'm the same way! I've been engaged for 8 months now, and I clean my ring once a week and try to avoid using my left hand for anything (like lifting).

I work in an oil refinery and besides scuffing the bottom of my ring on door handles, I haven't had any problems. I have insurance and a lifetime warranty on it as well.

Retail workers here! I've wore my engagement ring every day since I got engaged a year ago. I work in inventory and all I do is work with my hands. I guarantee you will be fine. I've never damaged my ring.

I wear mine everyday if I lose my diamond or if it's damaged we pay nothing bc of insurance he paid on the ring.

When I first got my ring a month ago I was terrified something would happen to it. It's a pear shaped sapphire with a double halo, and I use my hands a lot. So far so good! I did get it insured though just so I can feel better about it

I have smacked my ring pretty hard more than once (I get scared every time though) and it is completely fine. I get it checked about every six months to make sure everything's secure.

Get it insured and inspected on regular basis. Then stop worrying, gawk at it, show it off and enjoy this spectacular baby!

I wasn't sure about getting it insured but now that my mom and so many of you guys keep recommending it i think that i will. What is the cost and how does it work? Do you make one payment or several? My ring was about 1k what are some good places? THANKS!!!!!!

I work retail too and I wear my ring everyday and haven't had a problem. My ring is warrantied against damages by the jeweler so I even wear it to the gym! No problems. If you are worried about it, get insurance like the other girls said, and be sure to get it checked regularly by the jeweler. They can ensure the prongs are secure and there are no cracks in the diamond that are unseen to the naked eye.

Get it insured asap. Thats what I did. Since my ring is from zales, we have the warranty. Don't worry.

This post is very helpful! I was in a yoga class Tuesday and hit my ring doing a full body stretch. :-( The rest of the class I was inspecting it constantly! My mom assured me the diamond is fine and after 3 months engaged, I’m still getting used to wearing it. My fiancé had the ring insured, but I still try to be so very careful!!
