Words of Advice??!?!

Ebony, on April 26, 2023 at 1:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4

Hello Ladies

It's officially 28 days until the BIG DAY!!! Smiley ring It seems like just yesterday my fiancé got on one knee and popped the big question Smiley love I can't believe it's been 2 years since he proposed.. Oh how fast 2 years flew by Smiley sad

We are both excited and got pretty much everything done. Having a wedding planner saved our lives and I highly recommend one to anyone whos newly engaged . A wedding planner helps so much with stress and with every detail you can think of!!!

Anyways, I just want some advice. Is there anything else you think we should focus on now, make sure we have done, or just simple words of advice to having a successful and happy marriage ??

Thank you in advance

Congratulations and good luck to you both! By now, your wedding is, what, about 2 weeks away? I hope that your day is as wonderful as you dreamed and planned it would be. I hope the weather cooperates as well. I was married 38 years ago. I'm here because we are having the Catholic church wedding we couldn't have back then. It will be a simple event: a ceremony with our original rings in the middle of a regular Sunday morning Mass. My best friend/church music director is MOH, our 36 year old son is Best Man. In the afternoon, the MOH and her hubby are hosting our wedding dinner at a nearby fine restaurant - there'll be 8 of us including our grandkids and the priest.

Now that everything is set to go, here's some wedding day advice that I've been getting from my MOH: eat something. Have something nourishing and light before the ceremony - you don't want to pass out from excitement, heat or low blood sugar! Relax and enjoy. Try to remember every moment of the day. I remember my original wedding day well, but I don't recall if I ate anything. As far as married life: by now, you both should know eachother well and have an idea of your common ground and your differences. Talk about everything! Decide on those major life events now - how to handle kids, parents and other relatives, religion, money. Pick your battles - don't sweat the small stuff. Be frugal and decide what you want as you are able to afford them- a home or a condo? A vacation every year, more furniture? A new car or a new baby? Try not to get into too much debt. Try to agree and if not, learn how to compromise. Always respect eachother, and be kind, in private as well as in public. Maintain a sense of humor. When the "worse" comes, be there for eachother. And always remember as the years go by, why you fell in love and got married. Congratulations and be happy!

Wow! MrsC said enough for us all... Great advice there MrsC.

One other piece of advice, Never go to bed angry at each other. Talk it out even if it takes all night .. Good Luck, Best wishes for a wonderful, magical day. And Best wishes for a Blessed marriage.
