Hi! So, I'm planning a November wedding in Florida and it's going to be rustic, with a little bit of glitz and elegance. But I'm doing this all on a pretty tight budget. Hi! So, I'm planning a November wedding in Florida and it's going to be rustic, with a little bit of glitz and elegance. But I'm doing this all on a pretty tight budget. I LOVE the idea of the wood pallet tables. They work great with the general theme and outdoor setting I'm going with AND it suits my budget. My friend can get these pallets easily for me through his job and often uses them to burn during bonfires. However, I'm very concerned with the pillow/floor seating not being comfortable enough for everyone. Has someone out there done this? If so, how did it go for you? Are there any other alternatives? I provided pictures below to give you all an idea. Also, There will not be a full sit down meal. Only drinks and some Hors d'oeuvres.

EDIT: When I say glitz and elegant, I only mean a small bit of details. My theme is definitely more simple and rustic, but some of my decorations will be rose gold, rose gold glitter/sequin. The plates have rose gold trim on them. The vases for the centerpieces are gold milk bottles. It's MAINLY rustic. So, I don't mean FULL on glitz.

Glad to hear you’re going in a different direction! I lived in FL for only about 5 years but the one thing I will never forget is the red ants and that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the seating on the ground! Lol I think farm tables will definitely still get you the rustic look you’re going for!

Farm tables would be awesome, I definitely would recommend that to give the same general feel!

Oh. I can not imagine going to a wedding and sitting on the ground. Are you encouraging your guests to wear jeans? I'm almost 50 and after 40 or so minutes on the ground trying to keep my modesty intact and I would be rather uncomfortable. Plus bugs up the skirt...

Any one in a dress will flash people. Anyone with bad joints or over the age of 65 will not be able to get on the ground.

My back is fused -- I literally am not physically capable of sitting on the ground. If we arrived and saw this was the set up, we'd have to leave....

In no world does sitting on the floor equate to "glitz and elegance". Please do not torture your guests like this. I'd honestly stay for one drink after the ceremony and leave if I saw a pillow on the grass was all you provided for people to sit on. Terrible idea. AND, you'll spend way more on pretty pillows for everyone than you would on just renting chairs.

I think it's a cute idea for something but probably not for a wedding I am sorry to say... I feel like it's one of those things that looks great in pictures but in practice doesn't really work that well...

but if you decide to go in this direction I would make sure it's clearly stated on your invites or in your invite materials that seating is non traditional...(i.e. on the ground) walking on grass in heels is one issue, trying to sit on the ground without your who-ha exposed in a dress is another story! you want to make sure your guests are prepared for your non-traditional vibe and that they are prepared to dress properly to be comfortable.

Also based on that comment - ask yourself if you will care if all your guests (women too) show up in shorts, pants, or even maybe jeans... your decor sets the mood and level of formality - if I got an invite that made it sound like I was going to a picnic I would likely dress accordingly... if this won't bother you than no worries, but if the thought of your pictures show you in a fancy dress, FH in a tux or suit, wedding party in dresses, and then all the guests are super casual, bothers you than you may want to explore other options.

    Good luck!

One last thought --- check with you caterer... they may have issues with the idea of having to bend over so much to serve food - I can envision associated uncharges due to increased difficultly serving and clearing...
