Winter wedding -- heating options?

Jessica, on May 25, 2019 at 3:50 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
I'll be having my wedding in Lake Oswego, Oregon, on 12/28/19. We really want to have the ceremony in the lovely outdoor space which is boardwalk leading to a platform over a river, but the temperatures will be in the 30s-40s with a 50% possibility of rain. The cocktail hour and reception will definitely be indoors.

Have you had or been to a wedding where they SUCCESSFULLY heated an outdoor space for 100 people? How did they do it? My wedding is all about my guests, so, in the end, I'll have to go indoors, unless I can figure something out. Smiley sad

If we were doing the ceremony indoors, we would at least like to have photos over the river. It is down a flight of stairs and about 100 ft down a boardwalk to the platform. I wouldn't ask anybody except me and my fiance thi take more than 2 pictures out there. Have you been to a wedding where you were asked to walk and take 1-2 posed portraits for a couple minutes outside in the cold? Would you do it if you had to?

I've never been to an outdoor event with heaters that was comfortable.
Although I say that as the events have been football games in November with borrowed heaters from the local farm supply store. And it wasnt enclosed at all, the football field was on an open prairie area.

If I was in someone's wedding, I'd go take photos. Even if it was cold.

My fiance was in a wedding a couple years ago on the hottest day of the year. They still took a lot of photos, but with plenty of breaks.

I'd go for the indoor ceremony and get some pics outside!

Thank you for all your responses! I'm glad thi hear that people won't mind being out for a couple minutes for pictures. That's probably what we'll do then. Thank you!

I live in this area and I would NOT recommend an outdoor ceremony! The weather is too volatile that time of year. Pictures sure, not the wedding. That’s why we’re having a June wedding instead of October (that and my brothers deployments)
