Wine Tasting Bachelorette East Coast

Kimberly, on May 20, 2014 at 12:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

My MOH and I were talking about doing a wine tasting bachelorette party. Has anyone done this and have good recommendations of wine trails, packages, places to stay, etc on the east coast between PA and SC?

Thanks!!

We rented a house in Middleburg, Virginia with friends last month. There are a ton of wineries there! Plus antique shops, restaurants and parks. It's really nice. Maybe you could find a house in that area on www.homeaway.com? Then there are services where a party bus or limo takes you around to different wineries.

I know that there are a few options in the DC/MD/VA area. I also know that I went on one in MD, but cannot remember which one. Hopefully this info will help:

There are a ton of wineries in Loudoun County, VA. You could get a hotel in Ashburn/Leesburg and then use Chariotsforhire or Reston Limo to shuttle you around all day. We've done this with Chariots for Hire and a box lunch was also included in our package. I think we did only 2 wineries, but we live here so we go to wineries regularly.

If you come this way, I recommend Casanel, Tarara, Doukenie, and Sunset Hills. Breaux is also very nice!

You could also do a similar trip in Charlottesville, VA but I am not familiar with their wineries to recommend any!

Some great wineries in Charlottesville/Barboursville area. Go to www.virginiawine.org for maps/ lists/ and trade partners (for shuttles)

Lots of wineries in Charlottesville, VA! So pretty there, too! We went to Veritas this summer and it was really nice! Barboursville is supposed to be really nice, too!

If its possible to go north of PA, you should look into the Finger Lakes in New York. Beautiful area with lots of wineries and wine tours. If you go with Bucks County, PA wine tour above, I have been to Crossings Vineyard numerous times and its beautiful! They also do a lot of fun classes there on the weekends where they paid wine and cheese or wine and chocolate. There's also a couple wineries right over the PA board in the Princeton/Hopewell area of NJ that are nice as well. Enjoy!

For those that did this for your bachelorette, how many wineries did you visit?

North East, PA has a great wine trail... it's north of Erie and is not actually in north eastern PA though. LOL It extends up into New York state.
