Wine ceremony- What wines?

Suzie_Cue, on June 22, 2016 at 12:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

We want to do a wine blending ceremony, however mixing two wines sounds like it will taste horrible and I don't want a horrible expression on my face haha! Has anyone done this ceremony? what wines did u use? I don't really drink wine so I have no idea. The only wine I have tasted and like is Stella Rosa, but I don't know if it can be mixed with any white/clear wine.

Any suggestions?

For our wine ceremony the wine was pre-poured into three glasses (all the same wine). We drank from the middle one, but no wine was poured. The officiant spoke to the sweet and the sour times, and I believe blending of our lives.

I don't really do my wine sharing that way. I'd use one wine, make it white. I do have an awesome popsicle/vodka ceremony though......LOLOLOL!

We did a wine blending ceremony where I poured a white wine and DH poured a red wine. We actually went to a local winery and did a wine tasting in order to try out how the two wines would mix together without having to purchase full bottles first. We tried a few combinations (most were awful) until we found a combo that tasted surprisingly great. Good luck!

The popular way is what Christine M. did - blend a white and a red into a rose and drink that. But if you don't know wine, that can be difficult.

I grew up in NJ with great liquor stores that had some knowledgeable staff - do you live in a state where the people who work in liquor stores might have a good breadth of knowledge regarding wine so that they could guide you in the right direction?

If you don't like many wines and make a funny face at ones you don't like (like I do with Malbecs - yuck!), you definitely need to explore wines prior to your wedding day.

We are doing either White Moscato and Red Moscato or White Sangria and Red Sangria. Haven't decided just yet. Smiley smile

We're thinking of doing a beer unity ceremony.

1 couple did a black and tan.

I'm thinking of combining a bourban barreled aged stout with a pumpkin ale.

I would hate to mix two wines. Although I like the excuse to have a drink in the middle of the ceremony, we went with a wine box ceremony instead. I bought a pretty box, and we put a bottle of wine and a letter to each other inside the box during our ceremony. We will open the box every anniversary, drink the wine, read the letters, replace the wine, and write new letters. I don't have a picture of our box, but this is a pic from the etsy seller we got it from, CountryBarnBabe.

Speaking of vodka and popsicles... how come no one's come up with a margarita ceremony yet? I'd be all over that! Just break out the blender in the middle of my ceremony and mix up a frozen margarita!

    Tequila sharing It's pretty close....

Carl and Missy share many, many things and one thing they particularly love to share is tequila (you might find a bit at the recption!) Tequila is, of course, a cultural symbol, but its significance extends beyond its status as a delicious beverage. The Aztecs viewed the intoxicating effects of tequila as a gift bestowed by the Gods, a beverage only available to the royalty and aristocrats. And it is traditionally served with two accoutrements (or ‘training wheels’ in popular slang!) Salt, a precious commodity associated with wealth and believed, to repel evil, and lemon which are the fruit of a tree that has long symbolized friendship, love and longevity.

There are two types of tequila, the plata is harsher and often have a bite or sting to them, while the añejo is smoother, and more complex. So too will the days of your marriage be, some harsh with a bite or sting of sadness, while others will be smooth and bring joy

    Here is the tequila sharing....

I invite you now to share a drink of tequila, as you pledge to walk together through both the plata and añejo days of marriage, as we who are here wish for you the Godly gifts of wealth, friendship, love and longevity.

I should've figured that there would be a tequila sharing one - the story you weave with it is wonderful! Thanks, Celia!

FH has never had a shot in his life, however, so I don't know if our wedding ceremony would be the time to get him to do it... He might need to take one right before it though, ha.

    I feel dumb, I always thought that it was the same type of wine being blended, Just from different glasses. I like @Christine M's idea of doing a wine tasting to figure it out! Not too bad of a homework assignment (;

Why would you do a wine ceremony if you don't drink wine?

We blended red and white to make a blush. We drink wine regularly so we tried blending a few leading up to the wedding so that we could find something that wouldn't make us have an awful expression. We ended up just blending a pinot noir and pinot grigio. It wasn't great but we had both had some drinks prior so no faces were made.

@Chrissy, I never said I do not like wine...I am just more of a beer girl, so I don't have much experience with it......YETSmiley smile . I love the idea and meaning behind the "unity" anything but I am afraid that if i use candles I will light myself on fire. I do not want to use sand because I do not feel it goes with my wedding theme. And in short... I could use a drink at that moment, LOL!
