Window seating chart!

Sarah195, on August 5, 2016 at 11:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

So I'm changing my seating chart plans because I found rustic Windows for sale on a garage sale Facebook page and I'm super excited! So I have a few questions. It's better to list guests in alphabetical order rather than by table right? And it should go by last name rather than first? And have any of you made your seating charts with old windows? What type of marker did you use?

Not sure what the etiquette/rules are here, but I say list them in a way that makes sense to you/ your guests. I don't think either way is "wrong". Maybe see how it would look each way and decide which you like best.

I'm doing the same thing with the window. I didn't even think about how I was gonna organize the list. I feel like alphabetical would be easier for people to find, but by table would look nicer in my opinion.

I agree I think by table would look nicer but it would probably take longer for guests to find their names.

That's what we are doing also! Here's my window for that. We have 2 for seating chart. I was going to do them by table because of the shape of the windows and there are 7 panes which works perfect since we have 16 tables (2 tables in the middle pane). Alphabetical would make it easier for sure but Idk I think by table would be more aesthetically pleasing.

As for pens, I googled it and then found one at Hobby Lobby that says it is good for glass so I am going to give it a try. We are also using a window for the guestbook so I definitely need something that will stay. But the chalk markers work on the windows pretty good I think so maybe that will work for your seating chart?

Just use sharpie. You can remove the ink with rubbing alcohol.

I would recommend by last name. Not as pretty but, it'll avoid congestion where people are trying to find their name.

We did the windows as our seating chart and listed everyone by table.

Oh awesome I didn't think the chalk markers would work but I have 2 of them so that would save me needing to spend more money on another marker.

Depending on how many guests you have alphabetically is best. I know by table is more aesthetically pleasing but put your self in the guests shoes. Time wise they can find their name easier in an alphabet breakdown a lot easier than oh gee which table am I. I will be having 13 tables (assuming a 90% RSVP ratio) and they will be organized alphabetically. If you have under 50 guests then sure, by table isn't so bad.

Look into paint markers and glass paint.

ETA: spelling is hard today :/

I've always seen them done alphabetically. That's definitely easier for guests. But I agree that by table would be more aesthetically pleasing. If you have a smaller wedding, do it however you prefer. But if you have more than 100 guests, I would do by name.

We are doing Windows too but not writing on them. I got some wire, mini clothes pins, and tags from hobby lobby.... That way if something might change you can easily flip people out without messing up the whole thing. Smiley smile

Ok so this is the paint pen I bought for the guest book. It works awesome. Chalk pens not so much. They just rub right off the window. So when you're transporting them or putting them up they may smudge off. This stuff can come off with a razor blade and it dries super quick.
