Will you be saving the top tier of your wedding cake?

Have you thought about saving the top tier of your wedding cake? Traditionally, it’s saved by the couple to eat on their first wedding anniversary. What do you think? Are you saving the top tier for your first anniversary? Or have you decided to say toodle-oo to that tradition? Photo from Sophia...

They were all amazing but the strawberry and white chocolate was so delicious and had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. The chocolate and whipped cream was the least sweet of all but there was a lot of people who appreciated having that option. My hubby and I got a piece of each tier and shared them! The white and black tasted better at the tasting than at the wedding so I was indifferent about it, many of our guests still enjoyed it. The cake tasting and design part was probably one of our favorite things that we did as a couple in the planning stages.

Absolutely not. Frozen cake (for any period of time) tastes horrible. Fresh cake starts to go bad after a few days. If it isn't served at the reception, I could see taking it to the hotel to snack on for breakfast or midnight snack. But saving it for a year is not an option in my opinion. Many bakers offer a fresh tier in the same flavor on the first anniversary free or very cheap if you discuss this with them.

So, we saved our top tier for our anniversary. However, I am trying to think of something cute and creative to do instead of the top tier of our cake because I have developed an allergy to milk and other dairy products, and those were used to make our cake Smiley sad I wish I knew back then that this would be an issue so we could still do the fun tradition since our cake was so delicious. I was looking forward to eating the anniversary cake but now I am disappointed. I think that you should do whatever you would like to do! Don't do it because people tell you to do so or because that's what's the expectation. If you would rather not eat the cake, maybe sit down and come up with a fun new tradition to do together for your anniversary. I hope that all of you and your families are doing well during this time! Smiley heart

Well I’m not having a tiered cake, so no top layer to save. Haven’t decided yet if we’ll save a chunk (my friend is making cream cheese pound cake which is my absolute favorite and I know it actually freezes well) or I might just have her make us a fresh one for our anniversary.

We didn't save ours because the bakery will bake the top tier complimentary for our one year anniversary; otherwise, we would have saved it.
