Have you thought about saving the top tier of your wedding cake? Traditionally, it’s saved by the couple to eat on their first wedding anniversary. What do you think? Are you saving the top tier for your first anniversary? Or have you decided to say toodle-oo to that tradition? Photo from Sophia...

You didn't say the top tier, our cake baker made us a fresh one for our anniversary. It was delicious. Wow our cake was three different flavors we chose our favorite for our anniversary, which was a pineapple buttercream tequila cake. It was amazing

We did not save the top tier of our cake, the reason being: we get a complimentary cake from the bakery for our 1st anniversary!

We saved ours and ate it on our 1 month anniversary and it tasted great! Our baker makes a new one for us for our 1 year for free. I figured no need to eat year old cake.

We’re not, because we aren’t even having cake... just a whole cheesecake for cutting (with plastic dinosaurs on top) and slices for all the guests. i figure we’ll go buy another cheesecake on our anniversary Smiley smile

We didn't have to consider it. Our baker remakes the top tier (or in our case, just the cutting cake, as we mostly served cupcakes) for your one year anniversary as part of your package! We recently celebrated our one year and the cake was delicious.

Yes ! That is a wonderful way to go back and just collect your thoughts after everything has died down, and life has started and really kicked in. It is a good way, to shift and bring the camera back to refocus on what special memories and events, and remberances you have lost sight of, by loosing touch with each other by just living life and getting caught up in the day-to-day. Sometimes the little things that brought us together get lost in the hustle of the hubbub of the busy schedule of things and we say we are going to take time ... but we don't get to, we have to make time. It is the senses that bring us back to rememberance, the tastes of that specials day when we were so very happy, the smells of the rose pedals and flowers and food all around us, the touch of your partners hand in yours as you are taking this special time that is yours to celebrate. The music that was playing when you were dancing and celebrating with loved ones. The look in each others eyes when you guys were the only ones for each other. Yes ! The cake tradition, is the perfect way to bring it all back into perspective the importance, the closeness, and the love that you share ... which is like a muscle must be practiced so it can grow and stretch and become stronger. Sometimes you just need to go back to the begining, to be reminded, of what you have.

Nope, not yet ... still finishing up my school after this week we have finals and honor society confirmations, then I can concentrate better. Just in time to get it all together with my gals, my school has kind of kept me from getting too nervous.

LOL, my top tier was eaten. Haha, I didn't care because our bakery will bake us a free 1 year anniversary cake the same way our top tier was.

It was saved for us! After we came back from our honeymoon, I was surprised to find a box from the Cheesecake Factory in our freezer. The banquet staff were thoughtful to box the top tier of our “wed” velvet cheesecake and sent it home with my friend who doubled as my coordinator. A year and a month later (we went on vacay for our 1st anni), it tasted just as good as our wedding day!

I had a three tier cake and the bottom layer was strawberry with white chocolate filling, the middle tier was chocolate with whipped cream and the top; tier was black and white with raspberry and chocolate ganache filing. It's pretty awesome that they make us an anniversary cake, our cake was part of our venue package and even at that they still make us the cake for free.
