Will my dress be able to be altered to fit me?

Zoe, on April 26, 2020 at 2:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
I loved my dress when I tried it on in the sample size. My stylist recommended that I order it one size up from the sample because the sample was a little tight on my hips.

I got my dress last night and it is so huge and saggy on me. Also I am very short at 5’1” so nothing is hitting me right. The torso of the dress is much longer than my actual torso.
I need advice from those of you who have been through major alterations before. Will this dress ever look OK on me?
My family are all trying to reassure me that it can be altered, but I’ve had really bad luck with trying to have clothes altered in the pas. They never looked right after alterations.

    Short bride here! 🙋🏻‍♀️

You’ll be fine! My dress was like made for a 5’10” model (I’m 5 feet tall). I had to order a size 8 size even though I was a size 6 because my of my bust measurement. I ended up losing more weight. My seamstress altered my dress in two weeks. And I had a ton of lace details on the bodice and hem.
Just be super clear about what you want and what’s important to you. Make sure you have ample time to do alterations too. Don’t be a procrastinator like me! Lol

I definitely think so! I also think you will end up with a better result after alterations, starting with the bigger dress!

If they were to try to alter that sample dress on you it would definitely change the shape and flow of things. When my stylist helped me order my wedding dress she explained that she recommended ordering the size based on your largest measurement - things can always be taken in easily, but it's way harder to let things out!
