Will Cuomo give in a little? Covid-19

Hi New Yorkers! As we all know, we are under Cuomo’s mercy with the 50 person gathering limit. Does anyone think he will raise this number any time soon? Or at least for outdoor gatherings? Hi New Yorkers! As we all know, we are under Cuomo’s mercy with the 50 person gathering limit. Does anyone think he will raise this number any time soon? Or at least for outdoor gatherings? We’ve been stuck at 50 for almost a month! We are doing phenomenal as a state, yet haven’t been credited any leeway.

It’s just so difficult to accept that one sole person and their decision can make or break wedding plans. 🥺🥺

Basically I told everyone that I made my decision and unless cuomo says different then I’m going through. Not a single person who isn’t a bride doesn’t understand what it’s like to still
Be going through with it if allowed. All I hear is well you’re paying for a DJ but people can’t dance and you have to cut 35 people and this and that and about who decorate might be different because I know the PGH doesn’t know about how things like guestbooks will work bevause it’s something that could be touched a lot before cleaned and stuff but I’m sure by October they will have figured that out if things don’t go downhill and I’m Halloween eve, and that’s the date I really always wanted. My FH happened to ask me last April 2019 and it works out that Halloween dates fall on the weekend this year and next and rescheduling probably will force me to have to change certain vendors and maybe my venue and you loose money and I don’t know why people think that things will just magically be better come next year. Like the government is not gonna just start giving out vaccines that haven’t been in human trials less then a couple of years to the entire US. They will have a lawsuit out the behind!!! The best thing is hoping we find a better treatment and people start listening to rules. We said we would have a AIDS vaccines when that came out and we still don’t. Like don’t hold your breath peiple. Life won’t be normal for a few years likely... especially if people keep acting the way they do!

As a supposed to be 2020 NY bride I 100% feel for all the brides going through this nightmare of a process right now. Although I know it’s tough to compromise on a day you’ve been planning for and dreaming about (and pouring money into!) for so long, we’re in a crazy situation right now.

The reason NY has such low numbers compared to other states right now is BECAUSE Cuomo has been smart and strict about closing down and reopening. If he starts letting everyone have their 200 person weddings this summer, we’d be right back up with all the other hot spot states right now. Think about all the planned weddings that are supposed to happen..if one person shows up to just one of those and spreads it, you start a whole bunch of new paths that could potentially kill more people as a result. I don’t think anyone thinks their celebration is worth even that risk.

    Hi,

Have you tried the westchester area? The hotels and banquet halls are opening at around 33%. A lot of them are huge so they may be able to accommodate.

I agree! It’s unfortunate but I even had to postpone my 10/10 wedding to next year. I knew I wanted as “normal” as possible and for me that means dancing!

The reason why things are so low are because of everything Cuomo is doing. If we loosen the reigns now, things might get shut down again

I understand the safety precautions. But what I’m angry about are the inconsistencies. He pardoned graduations over a month ago and you can currently have 33% capacity in churches and 50% in restaurants. My venue can hold 500 people. On a given night, they can take 250 people for dinner reservations but I can’t have more than 50 people at my reception. Furthermore, I can have 200 guests in my church, but not the same 200 people immediately following to have drinks and dinner. You can keep praising Cuomo but if you think this makes sense you are out of your mind. Additionally, if you think shutting down the state and crippling the wedding industry, amongst many other businesses is warranted with a 1% infection rate, you are sadly small minded and hypnotized by the media. I’m glad you found peace with rescheduling but for those of us who know this is wrong, it’s a hard pill to swallow.

You’re entitled to your opinion. Though I think graduations and church ceremonies are different from weddings where theres is a lot more mingling and dancing going on. Neither of those events go on for 4+ hours like a wedding would

I hope you are able to have your day the way you planned! Congratulations!

The guidlelines for weddings are in place and it specifically says, no congregating and no dancing. Which means it would be exactly like sitting at church or sitting/standing at a graduation. The problem is the inconsistancy with the numbers of people allowed to gather. Please tell me why its okay for people in the hundreds to march of the streets- for hours, standing right on top of one another and its not okay for people to sit down for a dinner at a wedding... it doesnt make sense. Not to mention, the infection rate never went up, did it... what about the small mom n pop shops that had to remain closed, yet costco, walmart, target and large chain stores that hold large numbers of people were deemed essential buisinesses and were allowed to remain open, smh...Theres a lot of problems that people just turn a blind eye to bc they would rather not deal with it and just do what they're told...or they turn a health crisis into a political campaign.....But hey, like you said, everybody has there opinions. Hopefully this will be something we can move forward from and every bride on here will be able to salvage some sort relief knowing they can still their wedding even if its not what they originally planned. Best of luck to you all!

I know I postponed my wedding yesterday and to be honest no one should be praising cuomo because let me tell you something... My venue had to argue with a bride trying to have her wedding in the Hudson Valley in August and she’s from Florida and was extremely upset when the hotel told her she wouldn’t be allowed in for her menu and to finalize stuff and she was very upset and confused because no such papers are being asked to be filled out and cuomo is not enforcing flying rules at all. People are jumping on planes and going wherever they want. She then proceeded to ask what she’s gonna do in August and they told her unless she quarantined then they can’t let her in, and sadly unless someone comes out and says they have spent 14 days in isolation, there’s no way to know if they actually have or not. So you think he’s doing this and that for the safety of people but if he was then he wouldn’t be letting everyone and their mother fly here from his list of hot spots and he wouldn’t be going to those states and not wearing a mask.

Our wedding is scheduled for 10-08-20 and we are having the painful conversations about possible postponing. Its so hard. All of our planning is done. We've sent invitations, had mt first fitting, have all our vendors, basically the entire wedding is good to go. I think in order to have the wedding we both want that we've planned and saved for, we have to postpone. I cried all day yesterday about it. It still makes me upset to think about it but I would rather have our dream wedding with all our guests. Cuomo doesn't seem to be budging on capacity limits and i don't want to get married with a mask on! 😷

I did take a look at that and it says "A spokesperson from the Governor’s office said, 'Also, to be clear, this decision only applies to the two weddings cited in this case - any and all other weddings must still follow state guidance limiting large, non-essential gatherings.' It then goes on to state that venues shouldn't be treated differently then restaurants as far as capacity and that patrons would still have to wear masks and it doesn't clarify the dancing. Which helps as far as guest count but not logistically as far as social distancing as well as out of state guests and mandatory quarantine. So its helpful in some areas but there are so many restrictions in the end it still wouldn't be the wedding we want.

According to my friend who is a lawyer, the courts ruling stays until it is overruled by cuomo however its still up to the venue to determine what capacity they want to to by. i wouldnt rush to invite more people because it will most likely be overruled and that could happen at any point. id be scared it would be overruled a day before the wedding :/

Those were my thoughts as well. I figured our best chance to have our dream wedding is to wait.

I asked my fiance if he wants to postpone after 2 years planning the answer is no and we go with the flow. Im blessed that we both have our jobs and many people we hired are not so lucky they've layed people off..good luck my nyc crew
