Will Cuomo give in a little? Covid-19

Julie, on July 21, 2020 at 5:53 PM Posted in New York Planning 1 38
Hi New Yorkers! As we all know, we are under Cuomo’s mercy with the 50 person gathering limit. Does anyone think he will raise this number any time soon? Or at least for outdoor gatherings? We’ve been stuck at 50 for almost a month! We are doing phenomenal as a state, yet haven’t been credited any leeway.

It’s just so difficult to accept that one sole person and their decision can make or break wedding plans. 🥺🥺

It is beyond annoying. I’m hoping he’ll bump
    It up to 50% capacity.

    Hello Fellow New Yorker,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Ive been following this carefully..... Unfortunately I had to reduce my wedding size to 25 people! However just a suggestion, Long Island venues may have a larger capacity

Long Island has the same gathering limits as everywhere else in NY state. 50% capacity or 50 people, which ever is lower.... I dont see him changing it before September unfortunatly. Im still curious to see what he plans on doing with schools, smh...

Well that’s the most upsetting thing- we’re slated to go back to school, many colleges and universities are going back in August, zoos and recreational places are opening up. Why can’t I have 200 responsible adults together under a tent for a few hours?

Ugh My Wedding is Aug 28th Almost a Month away, and I’m stressing out the venue keeps saying it should be fine, but I have no reassurance my guest list is 90. I rather them tell me a Def No or whatever cause this just keep waiting isn’t working for me. Smiley sad

Hold out a bit longer- you have 90 ppl- there’s a large chance he will up the limit to 100. Im at 270 so I’m screwed. I can shave it down to 200 but I refuse to go any lower. Best of luck - I truly feel for all of you going through this nightmare.

Dont get me started with him! not only has he not increased capacity despite the numbers staying low, hes now threatening to reverse the reopening and forbid restaurants and bars from opening. who knows if that means also going back to the 25 person limit. i am praying he doesnt do this and its just a threat.

Are you postponing being that the limit is 50 and you refuse to go below 200? or are you hoping the number will go up

I’m stalling for a little more time- hoping that he will increase the number or capacity percentage for the venue. I haven’t sent out invitations yet but it looks more than likely I will have to postpone due to Cuomo.

Unfortunately i dont see him increasing soon enough. if you must have 200 it will be hard to coordinate that however i see some brides are doing like 50 guests early cocktail hour then they leave and another 50 guests come for dinner. another option is move to connecticut but their cap is 25 indoor and 100 outdoor and the governor postponed reopening indefinitely. the only other option would be to cut list to 50. you could have a small wedding now and postpone the big reception? i empathize with u i had to cut my list in half as well. even thats up in the air with his recent threat. just hoping everyday the best for all these NY brides

No I honestly don’t. He’s got a tight strangle hold on this situation despite the fact NY is a state with some of the smallest Covid numbers in the country. And if the situation gets worse at all, it’ll be at least another four or five months of this

I hear you... and completely understand your frustration. Especially considering thousands of people gathered for protesting- that was okay, and graduation ceremonies of 150 are allowed-and that was okay...smh...none of it makes sense. Its his personal preference, not based on "facts" as he likes to always say....

I had to cut 83 people to 50 as well. I’m having my wedding at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel and I know it’s far from what I dreamed of but all of this is so stressful and the chances of all my vendors being open on 10/30/2021 is slim, I would have to pay more because it’s more expensive on Saturday than Friday. And who’s to say what the future will bring but I can’t take the comments from people on how I should really postpone and all this and that and it’s like omg I’m going through enough stuff!!!
