Why Not Both???

Amber, on September 26, 2019 at 9:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

So, I am having both a Matron of Honor and a Maid of Honor, is that weird? I want them both to have a place like that. (one has just gotten back to where we are back in touch, been friends for over 10 years. She was out of the country kind of thing, very difficult to talk sometimes, and the other has been around for a good couple of years and has been acting in place for my Matron) I have four girls all together. Two married, two not. All of them are really good friends and are important to me but these two are more than the others. I have been told by some of my friends that this is weird, and for others, they thought it was great! But I want opinions that aren't biased. What do you think?

I have both! My first older sister is my Maid of Honor and my oldest (and married) sister is my Matron of Honor! FSIL is also a bridesmaid. Definitely not weird Smiley smile

I don't see anything wrong with it. One of my friends had two maid of honors because she didn't want to choose between her two younger sisters.

I think the traditions of yesterday no longer apply to weddings now! You should do whatever feels right for you! I am only having two people stand up with me – my two best friends. One is male and one is female. So I will be having a maid of honor and a man of honor Smiley smile

I have two maids of honor because I didn't want to have to pick between them- so totally not weird!

I’m having two maids of honor. I couldn’t choose between them and didn’t want any hurt feelings. Definitely not weird.

Not weird whatsoever! I have two best friends, completely opposite of each other! Ones down to earth, married and starting a family, and the other likes to party and do spontaneous stuff! They’re so different but I love them both the same! It wouldn’t have been fair to pick just one.

I'm doing this. I have 2 girls that I can't choose between. One is married, one isn't, so it works out to have a matron of honor and a maid of honor. Definitely not weird!

I had Matron and a Maid of Honor. And 2 BM. In the culture my family and religion observe, 1 of the people who stands with you is always an older married woman, often a godmother or Aunt, or Auntie. And one other a younger single woman usually adolescent, whom you mentor, or look after, so most people nowadays always have 2 MOH , a Maid and Matron, whether or not they have others in the wedding party.

I have one of each! My sister is my Matron of Honor and my daughter is my Maid of Honor. I couldn't choose one over the other for this important role, as they are both very important to me, and vital to my life!! So, they are both getting the honor!

Im with Cristy but I have 2 Maid of Honors. My sister is my Maid of Honor and my daughter is my Junior Maid of Honor (She's 12). They are both important people in my life and couldn't choose one over the other. So I don't think it's weird at all.

Definitely not weird. My daughter is 24 and will be my Matron of Honor. My two sisters (neither are married) are both my Maids of Honor. I couldn’t just choose one of them. Lol. And then three bridesmaids. Do whatever makes you happy!

Hi. Didn’t even realize it would be considered weird. I don’t think so as I myself am having a MAtron and maid of honor. It’s my two best friends from HS; one is married and the other is that so it was easy choice!
