Why is it so hard to get a Pnina Tornai gown !

BoatBride2014, on July 1, 2013 at 10:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I have been told that Kleinflield in NYC is the only store that sells this designer. That is the silliest thing I ever heard. Really ?

Yes, unless you can find a used one online people are always selling wedding dresses. Are you in NY?

Unfortunately it's true. Smiley sad She is an exclusive designer for them. She originally started designing for the store and then after a few years they gave her her own boutique within the store.

"In 2005, Pnina first showed her dresses to Kleinfeld, they denied her designs because of her use of lace in the dresses. Pnina did not give up, instead she redesigned her dresses to match the style of a Kleinfeld's dress and returned a while later.[6] When she returned, one of her dresses caught the interest of Kleinfeld's eye. Thus, Pnina became one of Kleinfled's wedding dress designers. The bridal shop opened an in-store boutique for Pnina's dresses, after only two years of designing for the store. She received this gift because she was the store's top vendor. This was a privilege that no other designer at Kleinfeld's received."

You can try places like preownedweddingdresses.com - sometimes they have dresses that are new with tags when brides change their minds. Other than that it's a trip to NYC.

ETA: she also has stores in Athens, but that's probably not at all helpful unless you happen to be in Greece.

I'm not even close to NY! That is absolutely crazy, I didn't want to go to NY just to look at one designer, that might not even fit me right. Uggghhhh

@Jules" I will check out that website !

Her gowns are beautiful, but yes Kleinfields in NYC is the only place that carries them. That is also why they are so expensive. Are you near NY?

It's a private label. It's also very, very expensive.

I think most of her stuff is a little too over the top, and way to pricey, but if you love them them pre-owned may be your best bet if you don't want to travel

I've seen Pnina Tornei gowns shown on the TV show I FOUND THE GOWN! The owners of VOWS in Boston sell designer gowns at discounted prices from 50-80% off. They sell a lot of Maggie Sottero and Vera Wang and they are able to get Pnina too when they can. But the downside you have to buy whatever size they have in that gown and have it altered.

I think her stuff is over the top & very pricey, not to mention the cost of alterations. But is that want you want, the ladies are correct. It's NYC or pre-owned website, be sure that the website is legit. Good Luck

Only reason I like her gowns are because of the bling element. I can't seem to find another designer that has the wow effect I want on the back. I'm considering Simone Carvalli and Essense of Australia as well.

@Boatbride2014 - That last dress is amazing. The back is gorgeous and so unexpected! It's definitely for someone who wants to make a statement.

I went to Kleinfields and tried on Pnina..she is very uncomfortable to wear--the material was stiff/sharp. So definitely try on before you buy!! They PUSH her designs at Kleinfields--and they do not come cheap! Her sample sizes in the store are a size 8 street, 10 bridal. So if you are making the trip call ahead to make sure what you want is there.

Also Pnina herself is in the store most days, she was there when I was there. If you are buying her dress she negotiates very well and is really willing to work with you to make you happy. Smiley smile Good luck!
