Why? Do I need them? Chivari chairs.

rusticbride, on January 1, 2014 at 6:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

Finished putting together all of the wedding invites today. Whew! Of course, I started thinking about other things to have for the wedding.

Venue has the white, wooden, fold up chairs (150) that are free of charge for us to use.

Those are fine for the ceremony, but why am I doubting them for the reception? My biggest concern is getting them from the ceremony to the reception. Why am I trying to complicate things, and RENT extra chairs?! Blehhh.

I'm having an Old South meets Steel Magnolia's theme. The wooden white chairs would probably fit that better than the chivari, but Idk why I keep revisiting the option of renting them.

Help! Keep me from spending more $$$! Lol!

No one is going to notice what kind of chair their ass is occupying! I promise!!! Pay the venue a little extra to move the chairs and do not rent Chivari chairs. Save yo' money!!

The Chivari chairs are nice, but honestly no one is going to care what type of chair they are going to be sitting on. Save your money and spend it on something else. People spend more time looking at centerpieces and eating the food.

I really like the chivari chairs and because I'm crazy and focus on not very important things, they were a must for me for. For my venue, mine are in the ballroom and there are white folding chairs in the ceremony area.

I don't think they're super important to have, but I would probably rent enough chairs (whatever the kind) to not have to move them between the ceremony and reception.

I don't think they are a necessity. People may be like, "oh pretty" then plop right down and will not pay any attention to them later on. Save your money.

Are you having a cocktail hour or something where your venue would have time to move the chairs? we rented white wooden folding chairs for our outdoor ceremony and chiavari chairs for our reception because it would have been too difficult to move everything.

@Ashley, I emailed the venue about your question. I would hope they'd move everything for free, or have my caterer's staff do it, etc.

@kahlcara, that is another reason why I'm curious to know if I should bite the bullet, and get the extra chivari chairs. My venue is an old, historic manor house. The ceremony will be outside, and the rest of the wedding will take place on the first floor of the house, and outside. I wanted to open up the ballroom during cocktail hour for those older folks who'd rather go ahead, sit down, and get settled. I'd need the chairs in that room. Not sure how fast that transition/relocation could happen.

If the venue can do it for free, then I'll just leave it alone.

@Karen, I agree. Your venue needed a little bit of a modern touch there.

This may help... my venue's ballroom with the white, folding chairs.

I like the white folding chairs! Our venue has the same and it gives everything a nice clean feel.

Our venue is moving our ceremony chairs into the reception during cocktail hour. Could you do something similar? Seems silly to rent more chairs.

The white folding chairs are perfect. Plus nobody remembers the chairs lol. More money that you can save or put towards something you actually need!

Will your ceremony chairs be on grass/dirt? If so, the feet of the chairs will get dirty and bring dirt into the reception area. A venue near me requires that you rent chairs for the outdoor ceremony so their "inside" chairs don't get dirty and get the floor dirty.

I used the white folding chairs (very similar to your picture!) for both ceremony and reception and they worked great. however, ceremony and reception are both in the same room for me so the only movement they had to do was just from one side of the room to the other, and it happened during cocktail hour free of charge.

I am using the chiavari chairs for my reception- (under the tent) and white folding chairs for the outdoor ceremony. The reason is I wanted a more elegant look to tie in the décor and table settings which the white folding chairs just didn't do for me. The chiavari I am using are dark wood with an ivory padding. But I think white chairs could look just fine if you wanted to save money on chair rentals. It is very common to have one set of chairs and move them over from the ceremony.

I think those white folding chairs are way better than a lot of places provide! My venue offers Chivari chairs at $3.50/chair! No way man. We did try sitting in them and FH didn't find them comfortable. I just bought chair covers for less than half that instead to use with the much comfier and free chairs provided by the venue.

I have been to a lot of weddings and not once did I look at the chairs and think "oh my god, why did they not upgrade?"

Although, @karen, I may have said it if you didn't upgrade Smiley winking
