Why Do Brides Wear White On Their Wedding Day?

As I was planning my wedding I never even considered what color my wedding dress would be. Obviously I was going to wear white. But why? For tradition sake? To showcase purity? Are you wearing white on your wedding day? If so, why?

Exactly! I deserve a white dress! Specially since I never thought I would do this again. I'm happy 😊

I haven’t gotten my dress yet, but definitely will be where a shade of white not straight up white though, bc I just don’t like how it looks on me

Initially I was NOT going to wear white because it felt too traditional. So, for months I was set on wearing gold (prior to picking our venue). But 2 weeks ago I envisioned the gold dress inside of our venue (and next to my FH). 🤔 That’s when I realized that it wasn’t going to look good.

Reasons being... our ceremony and reception rooms are within the same venue but have two distinctly different colors inside on the walls and furniture (which completely sold us along with the fact that it is not a typical wedding venue). Given the colorful rooms, FH and I are going to wear one accent color for the ceremony and then change accent colors for the reception (FH is going to changing his jacket & bowtie, while I change jewelry, dress sash/belt, hair flowers and shoes). So instead, I decided to go with a simple & classic ivory dress that doesn’t have embellishments. That way I can add the color and pizzazz without it clashing. Excitedly, I’ve already found the dress and it’s perfectly perfect for the venue and the vision.

I definitely want A line because it’s best for my shape, other then that probably either with lace or beading, I want it to have something unique about it, I just haven’t found that yet. So, I decided to give it a break for a bit since I have a lot of time. Your dress is beautiful by the way!

A English Queen started the traditional white dress. Normally a bride wore a colored gown to show status. I think white is beautiful on darker skin tones. Ivory is classic to me.

That is a very flattering style. Lace or beading? Why chose one? Get both! Lol.

    Thank you! Smiley heart

A white dress wasn’t my first choice at all, not even a thought... but since I was open to trying on everything when I did put a white dress on I was stunned at how great I looked in it... was very pleasantly surprised and it did make me instantly feel like a bride.

At my first wedding, I wore an off-white because white was tradition. I wanted that traditional bride thing.

For my second wedding, I'm going to have a rainbow dress because that's going to be our theme. I've already done the traditional wedding thing. And I'm not a virgin, so nixing the white dress in favor of something with the theme just makes more sense.
