Why are limos so expensive?

I knew having a May wedding would add to the cost things. But the markup on limos in my area is so outrageous. I have a total of 12 in my wedding party, including FH and myself. The cheapest quote I've received so far is $1800. There's even a minimum 8 hour reservations in May-June. Our host hotel...

I knew having a May wedding would add to the cost things. But the markup on limos in my area is so outrageous. I have a total of 12 in my wedding party, including FH and myself. The cheapest quote I've received so far is $1800. There's even a minimum 8 hour reservations in May-June. Our host hotel doesnt offer shuttle service and I really dont want my WP to have to drive. Is anyone else suffering from transportation sticker shock?

    Why are they so expensive?

    Well, they are spendy for the limo company to purchase; insurance is not cheap; fuel is expensive; the driver needs to be paid; the company needs to also pay taxes on the employee; workers compensation insurance; the fact that the limo is not in use daily, but the rent on their office and garage goes on daily....etc.

    Yep, ala Kathy. It's a business. People are in business to make money. I'd suggest you do away with the limos entirely.

    One of my weddings had a party bus. The driver gave me a tour of it after the ceremony. It was really nice!

    Thanks everyone for your help. I was complaining to my planner and she actually connected me with a vendor she uses that totally comes in under budget, talk about clutch!

    So true....Im my area Limos are very much expensive during prom season which is normally around april - may...I think we are either using a shuttle bus to transport the bridal party (which is 20 with the bride and groom) or going to rent or use a luuxry vehicle (Tahoe, Lexis, Mercedes) to transport my FH and to the reception and exit the reception.
